Small beginnings

Got the throne painted, reasonably happy with it given my lack of painting skills.

It's been primed and sanded multiple times to remove as much of the tesselation from the 3d printing process as possible, then given a few coats of Halfords Peugeot Steel Grey auto paint. The cushions are old GW Liche Purple, with buttons and other details done in Chaos Black, Blood Red, Red Gore, Blazing Orange, and Bad Moon Yellow.

At some point I'll get a cabinet for my Star Wars figures so I can display them, at which point I'll come up with some raised steps and a Death Star window background.

Also this week I've added the new NECA 1/4 scale Special Edition Jungle Hunter to my Predator collection. Only got low quality photos off my phone

Finally got my hands on a reasonably priced Master Replicas Force FX Vader ESB lightsaber. I wanted to have it on display as just the hilt so today dismantled it and removed the blade; and as it's a DIN style plug it's easy to plug the blade in again if needed, and stays in pretty well.

It needs a bit of TLC as the clamp was scratched trying to remove the retaining pin, and I had to cut the pin as it would not come out. It's also got slightly sticky grips, which seems to be a common problem, so may need them replacing too.

Just need a stand for it now as the FFX stand is too wide. I'm also looking for a DIN style plug in LED if one exists so it still has the option to light up without the blade, but all I've found so far are conversion kits which require swapping out the blade holder section; I'd rather keep it as original as possible.

Haven't posted an update for a while.

Got a 2007 Master Replicas Vader Lightsaber and dismantled it to remove the blade. Here it is next to the 2005 ESB version.

I also got a Rubies Supreme Vader helmet, only just started modifying by adjusting the dome angle and the neck flare. Will be modifying the eyes, nose, grill, and dome ridge before painting. This photo shows it before any mods (left) and after the dome tilt and neck fix (right)

Will be continuing the helmet mods when I receive the lenses I've ordered from FenixProps.

I'm pleased with both of them despite their inaccuracies, overall they look great and I'm looking forward to getting a proper display organised with them alongside the helmet. Just need to find some space to set up an Ikea Best, Pax, or Billy (would have liked a deep one but they don't sell them any more) with large glass doors.

I've got everything I need to continue with the Vader helmet mods but not going to get chance to work on it for a few weeks at least, but I'll post up pics when it's done.

Bought a NECA Batman Begins 1/4 scale for my wife as she's a Bale Batman movies fan. It's a great figure, but about 1.5" too tall so isn't in scale with the NECA TDK Joker, makes Arnie Dutch look like a teenager, and the Predators like they're youngsters

As long as he's on a different shelf to the others it shouldn't be too obvious though.

I've not updated this for quite some time, so here goes.

Got a resin cast hilt supposedly from over of the Duracell as in the 90s, and painted it.

I've also expanded my helmet collection a little with a DarkAgent TIE Pilot, and finished modifying the Rubies Vader Supreme to make it look a little more like the ESB helmet (photo is from a few weeks ago, since then I've replaced the tusks and the chin/mouth mesh)

Last week I set up an Ikea PAX in the attic, and yesterday added some LED lighting. Still needs some conduit to hide the wiring, and I've got some clear acrylic risers on the way to replace the card boxes, but this is it as of yesterday.

I've only put out a few of my 1/6 figures - mostly Marmits and a few Hasbro, with a Sideshow Vader.

Had this knife in my collection for a couple of years but forgot to add it to this topic.

The knife was made by my dad back as an apprentice in the 60s, and the sheath by my uncle in the mid 70s.

The sheath is made of reindeer hide from the "Die Fraumetta Catharina von Flensburg" which sank near Plymouth in 1786, and despite being well over 200 years old shows little signs of age.

I still need to get a plaque to mount it on so it can go up in the wall. And as a one off it'll be never be sold, and will get handed down to my son at some point in the future.

Recently picked up a Master Replicas ForceFX Luke Skywalker 2007 saber, in full working order bar a faded led at the blade tip. I wanted to remove the blade anyway so the faulty blade wasn't a problem and I got it for about half the price they normally go for. Getting the hilt apart was reasonably ok apart from getting the brass pins out.

Now I just need to sort out a stand for it to fit in my display.

I've also got the MR Vader 2005 and 2007 hilts, so they'll all up together in my Vader section.

Last week I got a colleague at work to print out a Stormtrooper SE-14R blaster from Thingiverse. There were a few problems with the files, such as the front end of the bolt being too wide for the receiver, the bolt is too long, the trigger is too big to fit in the slot in the frame, the scope mount and sight were connected with a base piece target than being separate, and no dust cover included, but as a freebie I can't complain

After gluing, filling, sanding, and primer it had 3 coats of satin black paint, 2 clear lacquer coats, and then a single cost of satin black over the receiver and mag to take the gloss shine off. I added a cheap 4x20 rifle scope, mounted backwards of course.

I'm pretty happy with it, but might cut the bolt shorter and add a weak spring to hold it forward without rising damage, as the bolt can be slid backwards about 20mm at present which isn't enough to clear the ejection port or reach the mid point recess.

Added a Sideshow RotJ Vader v1 to my collection, and swapped out the Rubies Supreme helmet with the EFX PCR.

The Sideshow ANH Vader v1 in the back may get put back in its box for a while until I have more shelf space, and when it comes out I'll swap the dome for either the Hasbro 12" Vader version or the recent Hasbro Titanium - although the Titanium is metal and heavy so might make the figure unsteady.

Been a while since I updated this. Over the past few months I've added a few more items to my various movies collections. My wife bought me a NECA 1/4 Aliens Warrior for my birthday, and the United Cutlery LotR Sting with scabbard.

I also repainted a Rubies Boba Fett Collectors helmet as RotJ, and modified a cheap Rubies Boba Fett blaster to extend the barrel, scope, and stock, they'll do as a place holder until I can get screen accurate versions.

And I picked up a Black Series Stormtrooper helmet, and a Rubies Boba Fett Deluxe helmet which I may repaint in a more accurate ESB scheme later.
