Has anyone here either bought or sold through Shapeways? If so, what did you get/sell? How what the quality? How was the experience? Photos would be great.

All the time.
They are good for some things. Just depends on what you are trying to produce.

if you buy on shapeways do you then have to make a resin cast yourself or is the 3d print good enough?

If you look at my thread https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/custom-creations/36554-dwings-customs-8.html you will see a recent sword I had made and a revolver. The sword if the best quality and was 4$ more than the next one down. The quality is great. In the end it's cheaper to have on designed and then cast your own cast. As said above it will depend on what you are making.
