Thanks to those who answered my questions about Nippon Yassan. :)

Yeah, Amiami tends to do that. They spread out their pre-orders since they ship around the world to different time zones. They usually will go on and off several times before fully stopping preorders till release... I just wish they were weathered, and they showed photos of them with other figures like ANH Luke, Han & Chewie so we could tell how they scale. And 3PO is just a little too shiny, I prefer a little weathering on the droids.. Still can't make up my mind.

Don't....you'll put me off again, as I have the perfect weathering on the mafex droids.....

Great pics! Just don't let Harrison Ford get a hold of your figure. Look what he did to his Hot Toys figure on late night television.

why is it a cash grab/cop out? as a set, they wouldn't be much cheaper. The Mafex set retailed at $92 USD. SH Figuarts 3PO is $56 USD & R2 is $39 USD retail. So together they are $95 USD if you go by their retail price.

$3 difference. Not much of a cash grab.

Granted Mafex set has a few more accessories, but the SH Figuarts will probably be a little nicer overall. Have to wait and see final product.

I pre ordered both droids and I think they look really good.

That being said, I think they could've packed them together and gave them more aggressive pricing - if it was a set, they could justify the lack of accessories.

3PO, at $56 + shipping with no accessories, is over priced, don't you think?

R2, at $39, is half the size of a regular figure and also doesn't come with any accessories.

IMO, a 2-pack with no accessories, priced at $80 would've been more of a fair price. Or at least include some accessories for $95 + shipping.

Not only did they charge slightly higher than Mafex but they made it slightly harder to get them since they are separate and they don't include accessories.

Again, I think they're great and I pre ordered both of them because Figuarts.

I'm just nit picking is all.

If you look at any Figuarts vs Mafex, the Mafex is always cheaper with more accessories but it is overall lesser quality (most of the time). R2 and 3PO seem to be following that trend.

well im going to guess that they print less of these than Mafex, so the less you produce, the more expensive each piece is to produce. The reason i think they print less is because these tend to sell out, or atleast some of them have. I haven't really seen a Mafex figure sell out.

personally i like them separate because if you want to just get one or multiples of one, you have that option.

There is a lot of factors that go into costs that we dont see. their licensing and their production costs probably arent the same as Mafex so it can change the pricing +/-. SH Figuarts probably uses a different manufacture for all the parts. from the box to the figure. The costs just can vary. As a designer myself, I can get a book printed for X amount at one printer, but if i look at another printer, they may give me a different price +/-. But then i have to weigh that X printer is so much better than Y Printer, its worth it to me as a company to pay more for better quality. Figuarts quality is much better than Mafex right now. A lot of Mafex figures have the weird joints that make their legs and arms pop out. Figuarts doesn't have that issue. Its a better product. Just because Mafex comes with more stuff doesn't mean its better IMO.

my 2 cents :)

I wonder if this will fit with my SHF... I'm holding out hope that they recycled a bunch of parts from their FO Trooper and it will be about the same size. If it's any bigger (who am I kidding, it will be), it's not going to fly. Just need to wait for reviews to see comparison shots. And of course to see if it crumbles with a sharp glance like their 3PO

Nice. If you look at a photo of the Mafex Boba box it looks like she's at least 3/4" taller. The Phasma box definitely wouldn't be smaller (looks the same) so that's how I'm arriving at that.

So the Specialist Trooper might not have a separate release according to Tamashii's Facebook post. Could be mistranslation or something but if so that deeply blows
