Great thread, unfortunately I am unable to pick just one as I find that impossible. So many different styles and greats. Instead ill just name my favorite guitarists with some of the best solos (in no particular order): Stevie ray Vaughn, Page, Hendrix, Slash, McCready, Clapton, Lennon/harrison, Navarro, Gilmore, Frampton, Hammett, and Robbie Krieger (finger pick in machine)

The greatest guitar solo of all time, IMO, is George Harrison's solo in Nowhere Man. Beautifully understated, which is something sorely lacking among 98% of all guitarists who think speed is all that is required to make a great solo.

Pearl Jam Alive. I haven't actually got a favourite but this is one. So many great memories to this song. I remember losing control of my my car & I ended up rolling it 3 times over. This was playing & after all that chaos it was a fitting song to crawl out of my car to :lol

Mike McCready man he is sick. Yellow led better is another where he goes off on studio recording. Best to see him live though so many improv solos. He is definitely one of the best from the 90's and in top 10 all time guitarist.

He is definitely from the hendrix school of guitar playing. His solos on crazy Mary live are insane (along with drum and keyboard solos). His versions of baba o Riley and the guitar on blood is also awesome.

Pearl jam rocks. I have been following them since 92 and still love their ****. Seen a dozen or so of thier concerts over the last 2 decades. One of the best live bands of all time. Long live Eddie vedder!

Yeah I love PJ. I loved the Grunge era & there definitely my favourite band to come out of that & its good to see them still going & keeping the quality so high but when your got so much talent I guess that's not a problem for them. I've seen them live a few times now but not enough.

Yellow Led Better is my wife's favourite PJ song. I still remember when she 1st heard that :)

A favorite solo of mine by a not so known metal band. Solo starts at 48 seconds.[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4w9s66OrUo"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4w9s66OrUo[/ame]
