Hi guys, I've recently acquired a couple of signed posters left over from when the place I work for worked closely with Warner Bros. They were all in WB stamped packing tubes and were intended for customer comps, this one was never given away. One of them was this early quad poster for Dark Knight.

I was told it was signed by Christian Bale, however I can only find Nolan's signature, Eckhart's signature and a mystery signature. Bear in mind this comes straight from WB so could have been signed as soon as their first round of posters were printed. Here's a photo of the signature.

The only similar signature I can find is Heath Ledger's. It's not bang on but I've been through other cast member's autographs and what appears to be the surname bares a striking resemblance to some 'authentic' images I've found online.

Any thoughts? I can guarantee it's genuine, just unsure who's genuine signature it is.

Looking at some of his sigs, it might be his, but it's not close enough to say it is.

If a gun was to my head, I would say it was someone testing the pen for ink.

You can send it to forensics. No, I'm not joking.

My lawyer once investigated a case regarding a fraudulent will so the signature of the deceased on the said will was sent to the lab. It might cost a bomb but since Heath is no longer with us..

Yeah, this is the problem I'm having, it's close but not close enough. I know if I took it to a specialist, they might be able to give me a definite yes or no. I'm unsure that it's a pen squiggle, simply because of their intended use for the posters after the signing, but it's not nearly beyond the realms of imagination. I'm pretty happy with it either way. Cheers for the input! :)

I know you said it came directly from Warner Bros. but there are exact dates when they released the images for each of the posters online. I can almost 100% guarantee it is not Heath's signature as the designs for the final one sheet posters weren't released online until April and Heath died in January. I doubt Warners had them printed up that far in advance.

i think its maggie gyllenhaal's autograph. the swooping letterforms are very similar to her signature.

Heath signed his name very much the same all the time, its more messy. Maggie's have these big sweeping curve gestures and her signature is slightly different everytime, but with big swoops, like yours.

Bale, Nolan, Heath, Cain, Freeman, eckhart, CMurphy, katie holmes, tom hardy, oldman, even HZimmer and james newton howard, their signatures are very much the same all the time.

Yours i'm pretty sure is maggies.

Having spoken to a few of the more respected Autograph Dealers over the past few years in conversation particularly about Heath Ledger Autograph's from Batman. EVERYONE that I ever spoke to said there are Zero Autographed Posters from him. They ALL said NONE were signed before he died.
