Painting boots and using laquer?

Howdy!
I have painted some boots brown yesterday with acrylic paint.
I heard that sealing with laquer would make them sticky , but I want them Matt as they are
Sort of a satin finish now .
Does anybody know what will happen if I spray over the boot?
I think they are sort of a vinyl type material.

Solvent based lacquer may get sticky, due to it melting the top surface of the vinyl. Acrylic Matt medium or matt varnish is far safer. You can mix it with or apply on top of acrylics.
