Original Concept

Hey everyone,

Sorry it's been a long time since my last sculpture. I literally look an
almost 8-month haitus from sculpting. I've been studying spanish in
mexico and didn't have any time this winter break to do any sculpting.
Finally, the week before a spring break vacation, I decided to complete
the Neo sculpture. In literally 7 days, I sculpted 70 hours on this one
head sculpt. It's my second time sculpting Keanu Reeves (I last
sculpted him a few years ago as a private commission).
For some reason, the pressure of matching up to the Morpheus sculpt
and releasing a sculpt better than the competitors made me spend
almost 3 times longer than usual on this sculpt.

This time the project will be only between Kato.E , Sean Ho, and
myself. I am also hoping to have Raymond Ferraro as usual in charge
of photography...I appreciate the help from all the artists in the
Morpheus project, they definitely helped me it happen but this time
around we decided to make it a trio to have a little more control over
the whole project.

Edition Size
Based on the edition size of the Limited Edition Morpheus Figures
(21 full figures sold worldwide), I'm estimating about 25 full figures for
the Neo figure. I'm expecting more this time because this figure will
be "cheaper" and Neo is the actual main character?

At the moment, the target estimated price is $600 (not finalized) for the full figure.

Head
- Neo head sculpted by me (SUNOHC) and modified by SEAN HO
- painted by Sean Ho.

Clothing
- Black "priest" outfit by Kato.E
- Black pants by Kato.E
- Black shoes sculpted by Sean Ho

Accessories
- Small swords "twin sais" sculpted by Sean Ho
- Sunglasses sculpted by Sean Ho (who also made the new Morpheus ones)
- Hand pose variations (fist and open bullet-stopping hand)

Body
- New Hot Toys True Type Advanced Caucasian body
**The custom Kato.E Neo Matrix outfit will be tailored exactly for the
body we will include in this Limited Edition custom figure.

- Figure stand with Custom Evilface Matrix decal

- Custom box and Artist Card/Certificate of Authenticity

FREE Domestic (USA) Priority Mail shipping
$25 International EXPRESS mail shipping

Expected release this summer (August/September) 2011
PREORDER date will be announced soon (June/July)

Here is the previous Morpheus Figure thread for reference:
https://sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80008

People who purchased the Morpheus figure are automatically
guaranteed on the list for the Neo figure as long as they contact me beforehand.

Regarding separate outfit sets or accessory sets
Unlike the Morpheus figure, I will most likely NOT offer individual outfit sets.
This is because, I did so for the Morpheus figure, and only 2 people
actually took advantage of the separate outfit sets . . .
There may be individual accessory sets available, but I will most likely
NOT offer the outfit sets individually on my website.

If you are CERTAIN you only want an outfit set and not the full figure,
You must contact me through PM or email and send a non-refundable
deposit beforehand because I have to send the TOTAL quantities to
Sean and Kato by Preorder date.

Unpainted head sculpts
Will be available as usual. I will make the WITHOUT neck version as well.
People who send payment as a gift will receive a free gift (most likely
an unpainted head sculpt, but we are still deciding what it should be)

** Each Unpainted head sculpts will include one pair of unpainted sunglasses.

Painted head sculpts
will also most likely NOT be available on my website separately. This is
also because there were not enough people interested in this option for
the Morpheus figure. If you are CERTAIN you want only a painted head
sculpt, you must send a non-refundable deposit and contact me
beforehand because I have to send the TOTAL quantities to Sean and Kato by Preorder date.

I am on Spring Break until March 18th and so I will be unable to
comment into this thread (no internet access) but I will try and answer
concerns as soon as I get back.
Just wanted to make sure this update got out before I left

I think the hairline is a little skewed to the right (when facing the head) - what I mean is that the 'V' of the hair should fall in the middle but it is a little to the right

the long awaited project is starting... hooray! :)

Very excited to see how the final figure will look with the head, sunglasses, katos beautiful and perfect clothes and all the accessories, uuuh! :)

Is the sculpt final Daniel? Or will you take again some changes etc?

Excellent sculpt once again. I'll probably only get an unpainted sculpt and try to bash a version from the first movie as I much prefer that outfit. Even if I did prefer the second version, I wouldn't be able to afford Kato's clothes anyway. :monkey3
If we buy an unpainted sculpt, is there any way to get a hold of the glasses, too?

when it's going to be like with the morpheus head, then the sunglasses will come together with the unpainted heads.

If you want more then one glasses, i think you have to send daniel a pm:

Definitely interested in an unpainted headsculpt and sunglasses to bash Neo from the first movie. Sent you a PM. Thanks Daniel!

I'm interested in the full figure of course :rock I really am floored by the sculpt, it's fantastic, but I think I agree that the hairline parting may be a tad askew, and there is something slightly off about the jawline/chin area or maybe the lips? Something with the lower half of the face when viewed straight on (the profile is perfect).

Brilliant work though Daniel, looking forward to the release!

Ah I didn't know the Morpheus sculpt already came with his glasses too, thanks for the info. :duff
Guess I'll send sunohc a PM though just in case.
edit: And just noticed Daniel edited his post to add the info about the glasses. Excellent. :)

This will probably be another epic figure!
But I do think the sculpt is somewhat off... I think the nose is too long and the chin/jaw a bit weak. Gives off the impression it was photographed with a fish-eye lens.

I'm excited to see this project starting and have high hopes for a figure as great as Morpheus, and thank sunohc for the hard work already put into the sculpt.

That said, I would have to agree with abake - I do not yet see the same level of greatness when looking at the posted pictures as I did with Morpheus.

Full figure of course here:wave

Looks great so far and the more I look at it, the more I like the start to the sculpt. The side and 3/4 profiles are spot on.

Got to agree with the hairline. The widow's peak needs to be centered more in line with his nose. And I agree with others here that the jawline does need a little work. He has a slightly more angular jawline I think and also, his lips are kind of always in a slight natural frown...or scowl, if this makes any sense. :dunno

Great start Daniel! Super pumped!!! :rock

Hi Daniel, please put me down as provisional, i agree the sculpt is off a little most likely with the hair, it looks to me as if the curl on the front of his head is to long and to high, as was the case when you sculpted him for me, at some angles you have the sculpt spot on but the hair line throws it off, still that said its still the best to date, GREAT WORK.
