Kenny Loggins was the master of the 80s movie soundtrack. Footloose is my favorite of his, but he also did Highway to the Danger Zone from Top Gun.

The Promise- from "When in Rome"!

....now, it ALWAYS reminds me of the end of Napoleon Dynamite. I really thought that song was perfect for the ending, really left a lasting impression. I think anytime a movie can take an older song and make you develop new memories of it, that's brilliance.
