Merry & Pippin Commission...

For people wanting extra hobbit bodies, WBshop.com has Frodo and Sam on sale for $35 each and free shipping on purchases over $60. I just got an extra one of each so I'd have bodies if/when Merry and Pippin happen. They are my favorite hobbits and I really hope this commission comes back to life soon!

Oh boy, this is awesome. A day after I find this thread, the first WIP pictures of my favorite hobbit!

I do agree though that the cheeks need to be a bit more filled out. I also think the fringe/bangs across the forehead is a little too heavy. His hair doesn't go right across, the fringe/bangs are distinctly separate from the hair covering his ears. Here some reference images that show what I mean:

As it is right now, the face actually really reminds me of another Scottish guy, actor Peter Capaldi:

There are two things I would like to know about Zuno's sculpt:

1) Is it in scale with the the Hobbits? To my eyes it looks like the head is normal siezed.
2) Is it going to be modified to work with the HT neck style? Becauase the neck on there right now will not work with the Hobbit body.

yeah, before i made ANY purchase of a sculpt for these guys, i'd want to see the sam or frodo head next to it just to compare. Really needs to match perfect for these guys. Otherwise, it is a no go.

So I was looking around to see what sculpts of Pippin and Merry already exist and it looks like Gentle Giant will be releasing busts pretty soon -- as in this month. I think the height works out so the heads should be pretty much in scale for the SS hobbit bodies.

I'm not sure I love the likenesses, especially for Pippin, but I'm thinking about getting one when they are released just to see if they'll work until something better comes along.

wow.. see.. to me, the likeness is atrocious on those busts! lol..
but i guess i'm just getting spoiled now.. if you get them, post some pics though.. i'd love to see how they look in hand!

I don't think anything can be done for the Pippin which is beyond dire, but the Merry might be salvageable with a resculpt of the hair. Of course it will be a moot point (I feel like I should be making an Ent joke here) if the heads are too big or too small.
