Okay two out of three isn't bad especially since you have yet to experience the greatness of AWOW firsthand, lol.

Hmm I literally just discussed skipping this movie on the big screen with my son at dinner and he was okay with it but now with your review and an 84% audience score on RT I'm wondering if we should check it out...

Edit: Funny that on RT the critic and audience scores are literal mirror opposites of one another, 48% vs. 84%.

One does need to accept that this is like 98% Quantum Realm, so most of it was likely shot in The Volume. I was a bit leery of that going in, but it looked a lot better than I anticipated. That said, I do hope it's the last we've seen of the QR for a while. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I prefer some realism in the movies I watch.

One even mentioned his death, so it seems THAT particular iteration is done and dusted. What version/versions of Kang we'll get going forward is TBD, but there was a "Kang will return" tag line at the very end, so we're definitely getting at least ONE lol.

It seemed pretty definitive that he died, but I can't say for sure. It seems like the multitude of Kang variants that assembled will be the threat going forward, as they don't like how people are now aware of the existence of the multiverse.

but I’m Confused he who remains could know everything that happens and he was a kang variant, so why couldn’t the exile with his current tech do the same?

Just got back from seeing it. I liked it a lot. 84% on RT feels correct. If you like Rick & Morty style comedy/sci-fi, you'll love this - Jeff Loveness wrote the script and he writes for Rick & Morty (Vat of Acid episode is one of his). I liked it a lot more than the last Ant-Man and the Wasp.

When he was banished/stranded in the QR they disabled his ship’s power source, and without that he didn’t have access to his suit, his tech or (I think) his ability to know what would happen in that time stream. Janet unwittingly helped him fix it, but before they were going to leave the QR the ship gave her a glimpse at who he really was and what he’d done (& likely continue to do - destroy timelines and kill trillions). She sabotaged the ship’s power source again to keep him there, but he already got his suit & most of his powers back so he was able to conquer & terrorize the QR.

Why is every AM film not praised by the movie critics …it’s like no AM film gets a good rating ..I don’t think they are the worst of the MCU…never did

I think they come pretty close to the bottom though. The dynamic between Antman and the Wasp being the single worst offender. She's nothing but a nagging b**ch and just god awful. Also, the sidekick from the first movie has to be one of the most annoying characters of the whole MCU. To top it off I found the extensive technical jibberish painful to sit through.

So I came into this with low expectations based on what the sentiment here seems to be. I was pleasantly surprised to see this wasn't at all bad.

So I think I will start with what I did not like:

Spoiler:

1. Janet being obscure was obviously done for the benefit of the audience (to keep the mystery going longer). She did not need to keep stuff to herself especially after they've already been sucked into the QR.
2. The new actress for Cassie is not that good. Sometimes she's just ok, other times, she's like she was pulled off a school play.
3. This version of Kang should not have lost. If you want to top Thanos, it would have been good for this Kang to have killed Scott, or at least Hank and Janet. Him losing to Scott kinda makes him like Steppenwolf was in the Josstice League. His first outing was a loss.
4. There's a dick joke in there. I did not find it funny, neither did I understand what the heck Cassie meant with her response.
5. OK they did not die, but then at least, Scott and/or Hope should have been left trapped there. Let there be some consequences. He beat Kang, fine, but let him lose something in return.

With regards to MODOK:

I know a lot here are mocking his look. But I think it really works here. It's absurd. It's silly. And it fit perfectly in my opinion. MODOK was fine.

Ok, stuff that I did like:

1. Paul Rudd is still great as Scott Lang.
2. The Quantum Realm was a truly alien world and its inhabitants were well designed. Sure the CG can be off here and there, but in the theater where we watched, it wasn't enough to take you out of it.
3. I like the twist with the ants. I mean, it was obvious they'd play a role, I just did not expect it to be that way.
4. Yes they beat Kang, but Scott knows this is not the end. He knows something is coming. What he does with that is yet to be seen.
5. Council of Kangs

I really liked Jonathan Majors as Kang

I really liked his take. Yes, this is "Kang the Conqueror". But this is a defeated Kang. This is a traumatized Kang. I like how just beneath that veneer of calm, you can see the rage, the sadness and the fear in his eyes. This version of Kang is unhinged and in a way, he views himself as the hero of his story.

• I think we were meant to interpret Janet's being secretive about Kang's existence to be due to her guilt over unwittingly helping him. But yeah they should have had her open up earlier;
• While I agree that Kathryn Newton (new Cassie) wasn't great, I thought she was OK and undoubtedly has better range than the girl she replaced, especially comedically in her interactions with Rudd/Scott. Plus she's cuter lol;
• I disagree with respect to Kang's losing. Scott didn't defeat him, as the ants damaged Kang's suit before their final confrontation and he still kicked the crap out of Scott. Only Hope's surprise intervention saved Scott, and he "died" trying to prevent the Pym discs from destroying (or just shrinking?) his energy core;
• I agree on MODOK. I know nothing of him from the comics, but the explanation of how Darren Cross's body was disfigured when sent to the QR in a damaged Yellowjacket suit & he was saved by Kang worked for me. His appearance was jarring at first, but I agree the absurdity/silliness fit and I even liked that they gave him a brief but key redemption arc;
• The ants were the real heroes of the movie. Their rapid evolution in intelligence was a bit of a MacGuffin (like the red goop that acted as a universal translator when they drank it), but I liked how they serve to remind you this is an ANT-MAN movie set in the QR, not just a QR movie. It also gave Hank a moment to shine, and as the OG Ant-Man that seemed fitting;
• 100% agree on JM as Kang. He was excellent!
