As it seems that there is no general thread for the Kotobukiya iron man statues i decided to create one.

So i received a few days ago the first Iron Man statue fron Kotobukiya from the first movie. I know this product was released ten years ago and some of you know it maybe very well.

I love the character even if i'm not a die hardcore fan and i always wanted one item from this line. I had a few years ago the Hot Toys avengers Mark VII but sold it because this wasn't my favourite armor even if it was great and i did not like what became the franchise.
I truly think that the first movie is still awesome and, after Batman 89, the best superheros/comics movie and the Mark III the best armor. It is smart, simple, sleek and beautifull.
I missed the Hot Toys Mark III diecast and as i did not wanted to spent 300 $ so i was looking for the Kotobukiya for a while.
I found one used for 130 euros in mint condition and i think the price was really good.

It is a really an awesome statue. I love everything. Maybe the paint is just a little bit too dark ans not as mettalic as i wish but it is not a matter as it is a statue and not an action figure and i see it more as an idealized and classic interpretation of Iron Man, an aesthetic and artistic view.
It is elegant, has a beautiful presence, at the crossroads between the movie and the comics.
I love the base, and the pose is just perfect! Very classic and iconic!

It seems to be in porcelain and it is a limited edition numbered to 7 000 pieces worldwilde. I don't know if the the sequels Iron Man from Kotobukiya are still in porcelain and numbered?
Don't hesitate to post pics of your Mark IV, VI and following!

I remember when this one came out, with the first movie. Thought was an awesome statue. Would have bought but for me just polystone

Finally I realized that the paint job is not too dark and enough metallic if we watch back the 2008 promo and movie pictures:

It was pretty dark and not so metallic with quite brownish touches. The specialists can confirm when the armor became brighter and so metallic? In what movie, I can’t remember.
Or we were influenced by all the action figures HT included that are so bright and quite metallic candy?

It's a great looking statue for sure, great purchase :clap
The only Kotobukiya pieces I have are Iron Man and Captain America from the civil war set
