Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Really? If anything, it's an idealized version of Craig circa QoS, but it blows some of those monstrous other attempts out of the water:

Exactly!

Medicom's is great for more of a Casino Royale look, and Roadshow has some paint issues that aren't helping, but some of these sculpts look more like puppets from the old Spitting Image show, or Ian Fleming near the end of his days.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

If you hold the Roadshow head up to that picture of Daniel Craig and really look at it you'll see that it looks absolutely nothing like him. We're at the point now, thanks in the most part to HT, that stunt doubles just aren't going to cut it anymore. If it doesn't look like the actor standing there then you're always onto a loser.

That said, thanks to Barbara Broccoli, we'll never see an official likeness in 1/6 anyway. But that's not to say that an unlicensed one won't come close. THE one that I always remember was Iminime's, but, they sidelined it when they jumped into bed with ZCWO.

:exactly: t's still the best. The Medi's a close second but it looks pinheaded on a normal body and the seam at the head/neck is horrid.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Pretty amazing how differently people see the same thing. I learned a long time ago not to trust anyone's judgment that post on these boards. Too many, including myself, tend to lean towards certain sculptors or companies to the exclusion of other's work. If I am not sure about a likeness I ask people in my office if they can identify the head with no frame of reference. I also study lots of on line photos and the films/tv shows the characters come from. I have tried sculpting heads myself and it is really tough. In the few lessons I took I learned to look for markers that make each person's facial features unique. Sometimes it all comes down to what you like. A lot of the most praised sculpts on here look like hot garbage to me. I guess we are all lucky that there is such a variety to choose from.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

My vote still goes to BBKills...

I have an extra BBKill head if anyone needs, unpainted.

Yes Headplay Moore looks like he's handicapped. It's actually downright awful.

Wow - who painted that, looks great there! I need that head painted like that!

That last line made me laugh.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Thanks Wor Gar! I repainted that one actually, not a full repaint, I added some tone to it overall, totally redid the eyes, added some age spots and fine detailing (and since fixed his green nose)

Since i based it on the medicom as a base (which was pretty dark) as he was dark in that movie) and added fine detail from there it got a bit criticized for being too tanned but I totally disagree as he was extremely tanned in Casino Royale and that's the Bond I wanted.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I agree the head is closest to Casino Royale, and tan was the right call. Let's see new pics!

Slightly pinheaded, it's not too bad in hand, agreed on the seam. But in terms of likeness, it's easily much better than the roadshow for me. I have both sculpts. The Medi kills it.

So long as it's displayed on it's own. Among other figures, the smaller scale is wholly obvious.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Hmm, not amongst the figures i've tried him with (mainly hot toys) And small heads are my biggest gripe in this hobby.

Agreed. I sniff out small heads like no other. I'd even prefer slightly big heads to small heads. But in my estimation the Medicom head is only about 5% undersized if any at all. looks great with Hot toys figures.

The eyes make that sculpt! Amazing job on the eyes. :clap

Is there a trick to the skin-tone paint? I'm repainting a Hessler head for Grant and having a heck of a time getting the skin tone right. Did you just do a dark wash over the existing lighter paint? Or did you start over and build from dark to lighter?

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Has anybody tried making an Ian Fleming Bond? The one that Ian drew himself?

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I picked up the TTL Gestapo fig and it is an instant Craig Bond. VERY happy with it!

The feng head is still one of the best options. A hell of a lot better than the brothers production figure. The ttl black suit is also better than the brothers production by the looks of it.

Not a bad move...
