Iron Man 2 Discussion Thread

I just hate the fact that the country that invented Iron Man and where Iron Man is located has to wait longer to see this then other parts of the world. I want the next Bond or Sherlock Holmes to hit the USA before the UK to make up for it

Yeah I thought that was a bit odd. Would have expected it to premier in the U.S. and then elsewhere

A clarification on just what is going on with Iron Man/War Machine. I like that at least in its beginnings, War Machine is comic accurate.

The War Machine armor is made by Stark but then hijacked by the U.S. government. In one scene, Justin Hammer lays out a dozen different weapons and asks Rhodey which ones he'd like to add to the purloined suit. "All of them," Rhodey replies. Says director Jon Favreau, "The fun part is the ridiculousness of it — just how many guns can you put on this thing? That's the fun part of this character. With the movie, we make this effort to make everything emotionally correct but you also really want to cut loose and have fun in the places where it seems consistent to the story we're telling. And with the design and fighting style of War Machine we really went to town."

War Machine is refitted Mark II. Rhodey fights Tony, beats him, and flys off to Edwards Air Force base. From there military engineers rebuild the Mark II with Hammer Industries weapons.

The Senate hearing, Rhodey more or less throws Tony under the bus. Tension just rises from there between them.

Yes he'll be drunk. Tony will be fully armored doing a Gallagher with Repulsor blasts. Rhodey will then suit up in the Mark II to stop him.

No, but from the novel, to the art book, to the script. Pretty well versed on the goings on. Honestly cant remember the last time I was surprised about a movie I had been looking forward too.
And by 'Gallagher,' Tonys blowing up watermelons people are holding.

Thanks to the grounding of aircraft/closure of UK airspace the premiere has indeed reverted to the States.Do nt know if you watched Jonathon Ross on Friday but Gwynneth Paltrow,RDJ and Demi Moore all appeared by satellite link,only Clarkson and some lesser non-entity appeared in the studio.

Well an Arc Reactor does not have to be embedded in the chest.
Obadiah Stane could work Iron Monger with an Arc Reactor that was just connected to the suit.

My guess is scheduling. The Losers is already out and Nightmare on Elm Street debuts in the States this week, but the UK has nothing else coming out apart from Iron Man 2.
