Quentin Tarantino's "The Jew Hunter," Hans Landa, will be played by 51-year-old German TV actor Christoph Waltz.

German movie star Bridget Von Hammersmark will be played not by 48-year-old German movie star Nasstasja Kinski (said to have been in talks for the role) but by 32-year-old German movie star Diane Kruger ("Troy," the "National Treasure" movies).

Landa is the chief villain of "Inglorious Bastards," a diabolical Nazi colonel who demonstrates a useful knack for sniffing out hiding Jews in Axis-occupied Europe.

Paul Rust, who played "Wheelchair Darren" in February's Will Ferrell vehicle "Semi-Pro," has also joined the cast, which includes Brad Pitt, Mike Myers, B.J. Novak, Samm Levine, Eli Roth and German-born Michael Fassbender ("300").

Fassbender will inherit the role of British officer Archie Hicox, at different times intended for Tim Roth and Simon Pegg.

With shooting set to begin in less than seven weeks, roles yet uncast include Shoshanna Dreyfus (the movie's Natalie Portman-esque lead Jewess), her projectionist friend Marcel, the German-born maniac Bastard Stiglitz and the wily Gestapo major Deiter Hellstrom.

Yeah let's hope so...he ruined Kill Bill Volume 2 bigtime by jerking off to his own words behind the camera!

:rotfl

Yeah Kill Bill 2 could have been chopped down to 20 minutes and tagged on to the first one. Let's not even mention the endless, verbal diarrhea in Death Proof.

I have serious problems with Tarantino - he's an egotistical maniac. But Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill (the single 4 hour movie) are 2 of the greatest contributions to cinema EVER.

Deathproof sucked too. But I'm looking forward to this film.

I can't wait for this. The teaser trailer is outstanding.

I guess i'm one of the only ones who actually enjoyed Death Proof - even more than Planet Terror (which was awesome)

Im the same. Death Proof rocked.

And I like Kill Bill Vol 2 better then Vol 1. Had more emotion at the end.

LOVED Kill Bill Vol 2. Can't say I liked one more than the other though - they both had their merits, and were very different from each other. I was happy that Vol 2 was not just going to be Part 1 all over again.

To me, Vol. 2 has a Sergio Leone feel to it.

One month to go. And the spelling needs to be fixed in the thread title.

Yeah that bugs me too.

I'm looking forward to this film, but I have reservations about this one as it reminds me of Kill Bill vol 1. KB1 is fun and well told no doubt and I have no problems with depicting violence in a story so long as it is depicted as something negative, rape scenes for example should never be glorified or made humorous or sexy. I'm sure IB will be told with much flair and pizazz but I do not care for the subtext that torture and killing is fun and humorous, even if they are the enemy.

I saw this movie at Cannes back in May. I must say it wasn't my thing - and I'm a big Tarantino fan. :( It really seems to me like the trailer is misrepresenting the film - it's really the story of Shosanna, played by Mélanie Laurent, who isn't really seen in the trailers ... the Basterds themselves play something of a supporting role (and I was surprised by how little Brad Pitt is actually in the film!). Having said that, apparently the release cut is shorter ... so plenty of time to focus the film around the Basterds if that's the way they want to go. And it's hard to know whether or not I would have enjoyed the movie more if I didn't feel like I'd been promised a Dirty Dozen-style WWII action movie about kickass Jewish Nazi-hunters ...
