How to tell if sculpt is a recast on Ebay?

Hey there Freaks,

New to the forum and the hobby itself and was just wondering how you can tell if an item is a recast on Ebay, specifically a head sculpt.

I have interest in buying a couple right now on Ebay but I'm afraid the sellers are recasters but can't really tell.


Can someone offer some advice on how to tell?

Also, is there a thread somewhere on this forum where people post Ebay IDs of known recasters? Just wondering.

I took my glasses off for a minute and rubbed my eyes and when I looked at the title of this thread before putting them back on, I thought it read; "How to tell if a sculpt is a racist on ebay."

Haha very good. If it's a Hitler or KKK Sculpt I suppose it would be a racist

If it ships from China or Southeast Asia it's probably a recast.

The best way to tell is just to study in hand pictures of the genuine article and then compare it to the item for sale. Recasters cannot replicate HT quality paint jobs.

Also you may see " custom" or head play in the title or descriptions. Another sign may be that the official heads will sell for $60+ and you find recasts for $25 buy it now
