I did notice in the movie that the "deluxe" troopers all had the trident rifle and the regulars had the standard rifle. But I seem to recall many more have the rangefinders. Not sure if that pic is for publicity or from the film.

I've been looking at at pictures/videos of the Deathtroopers to decide which version to buy and seems in artwork/movie stills there are some specialists who have the rangefinder. I also asked the costume designer for RO on twitter and he said the reason for the rangefinders is that the specialists like to customize their armour which is strange since it's mostly the regulars who use one.

How interesting. So the costume designer doesn't even know. :lol

Since my post I have found other pics showing rangefinders on the specialists at the finale but then they have swapped their trident rifle for regular rifles. :slap

I think I'm going to see this movie again on Sunday and I want to make special effort to see if there is any rhyme or reason to the gear and rangefinder.

I'm waiting for Sideshow or my comic shop to get these in stock so I can start building a squad. I managed to get one off of ebay and I love it, it's my favorite trooper figure I've gotten from HT.

There isn't.

There isn't.

I expect not. But I'd like to think the DT I get is based on a specific one in the movie. Who fans will likely name one day.

I haven't decided which of them I like best yet. It's between they guy who shoots Lyra and the guy who detonates the bomb to take out Baze. Both were specialists -- not sure if either had a rangefinder.

I ordered the deluxe so I'm going with the stormtrooper doll pose. That's nice and specific to the movie and yes, will likely get a name, if there's not one out there already :lol

I think someone mentioned that in the movie the one who holds the doll doesn't look like the deluxe. Can't remember what aspect though since it's such a mish mash.

I think I liked their shorter rifles the most. Reminded me of Fett's ESB rifle. But Dolltrooper is my favorite regardless of what gun he had. I thought the juxtaposition of a fierce black warrior holding a white child's toy made for a striking image onscreen.
