I received my Death Trooper today. Awesome looking figure. The range of motion in the elbows and knees are good, better than the TFA Stormtroopers. The rubber feels softer and more supple. The forward range on the hips are still limited though unfortunately, partly because of the belt pouches.

Overall it's a great looking figure and I really like it. The removable thermal detonators add to the posing options. And the good thing with the decal for the stand is that you don't actually have to apply it, but you can just place it on the base and stick the stand through it. That way I can alternate how I display the base.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming Rogue One figures to pose with him.

Got him unboxed and quickly posed with Vader. I'll have more time tonight to play with the articulation and find out how limited it is. Initial thought is that the artillary vest impedes posablilty more than the rubber undersuit. The elbow joints do have rubber over them but they seem to move fluidly. There's a cloth undersuit with rubber over that, almost like armor panels. It's not just one whole suit over the other.

I'm happy with this figure, when the regular comes out I'll put them together and swap helmets.

Man, whether or not they end up like Phasma, that is a killer looking figure. Tall and shadowy and complex gear.

I doubt they have many lines but it's almost a guarantee they see more action than Phasma (just based on the trailers).

Dang @JonEl, love that purple lighting. Makes this figure pop nicely, it'd be awesome to see that pic taken with the lights on the helmet glowing.

Thanks @dioramamaker I'll try to remember to take a picture of it like that when I get home from work.

@DioramaMaker
Here's a few different colors just for the hell of it.

Then again Phasma is going to be in multiple films. These guys are obviously biting the dust in one. But I still don't see that mattering if they are badass.

I'm sure we're going to see them in some cool action sequences. My one hope is that they make them accurate with their blasters. I know we can't have them take out the main cast but a few Rebel troopers biting it would be just fine.

I have a feeling we've already seen the end of the Death Troopers in the trailer. They could all be loaded up on the shuttle that explodes on Scarif. Bodhi sees them board then runs in with the explosives, sacrificing himself. (My guess is that he believes Krennic is aboard as well, thinking he can take them all out together. But the we see Krennic striding through the water to witness the aftermath) That's just my speculation...no inside knowledge, just guesswork.

@JonEl, I'm loving those color variations, are you using the dioder strips with color control? Some of those photos have that "deep in a starship engine room" look. Great stuff.

It's just a RGB led strip from amazon. I usually just keep them on white, my (3 y.o.) niece on the other hand loves to change the colors.

Nice photos! I like how he looks next to the Jedha Patrol Stormtrooper. I've got the orange pauldron version on PO. Looking forward to the rest of the figures as well.

Nice pics TK. Got mine this weekend and love it. It was a smart move by Hot Toys to add the light brown wash over the armor. Really helps break up the black, something that wasn't done on their Shadow Trooper figure. While nice, it's hard to make out any detail while displayed.

I'm so close to hitting the order button on the Jedha Stormie but the non-removable backpack really bugs me. Yes the OT Sandie backpack is kind of a PITA but I like having the option to remove it. At least make it magnetic like the Jakku trooper.

I'm sure it was a marketing decision and not an aesthetic or design choice. If we could take the pack off and make him into a regular (weathered) Stormie, we may decide not to buy the 2-pack to get the EX weathered armor.
