Definitely. A makeup brush will be less harsh on your figure.
 
If using canned air, I would hold the nozzle away from the figure a bit - don't put it right up to the figure. Condensed air is very cold and powerful.

I wonder if the folks in the the USA know what the term "blow off" means here in the UK?

Can probably guess. In the US, to "blow" somebody or be "blown" is probably what you're referring to in the UK.

But the term "blow off" in the US is synonymous with "snub" or "brush aside." Not dirty at all.

Erm...not quite. Close but wrong. It's more like this, this is a 'blow off'.....
