Fantastic pics! Looks great with the rest of the gang! :rock

His head looks to be a bit better in scale than Frodo's.

"Uncle Bilbo, might I say... You look absolutely smashing!"

OMG!!! :lol

I've never seen that before! Thanks for posting it!

It was actually in color originally, although I guess this version has been edited.

All the parts are in. He is now complete. At long last, I give you Gimli, Son of Glóin:

Looks great. That fatsuit really makes all the difference on that pudgy little bastard, doesn't it? :lol It's amazing how now, Gimli and Bilbo (moreso Gimli though) are standing out as my favorites over the rest.

Beeeyooooteeeeefulllllll!!!!!!!! :rock

Oh yeah. I'm so proud of this figure considering the work I had to put into it. And to think that this is my first bash. ;) I was actually waiting for the chain mail to get here, which the post office totally screwed the pooch in delivering. Long story. Nevertheless, he's finally done and the fat suit and chain mail really do make a difference in the final product. And I've got you and all the other folks around here to thank for providing the inspiration, putting up with my noob questions, and coaching and encouraging me along. I owe you a beer, bro. :duff

BTW, one other little tip I'd like to add to the pool is the use of small rubber bands to blouse the pants and the chain mail sleeves. I used the tiny type of rubber bands used by folks who wear braces. Works great.

Looks great and I'm so thrilled to have the thread back on topic, between naked Bilbo and Nimoy's singing, not sure I'll be able to sleep for weeks with those images in my brain.

Where does one come by the fatsuit again, it's the only piece I'm missing now to complete my own Gmili, that and a stand, but I figure I'll just go the generic sideshow stand route.

The "Fat Suit" or Fake Belly comes from the Soldier Story SS-016 ODA Assault Team Leader kit. Once in a while it'll show up on ebay. Monkey Depot or Cotswold Collectibles sometimes have them in stock as well. You really don't need the fat suit though. As a temporary solution, until I was finally able to put the fat suit on him, I just padded Gimli's mid-section with bubble wrap and tape. Of course if you overdo it he'll be too fat, so not much padding material is needed. To be truthful, any soft material would work great for padding (cotton balls, gauze pads, etc.)

Looks fantastic, Blu! :rock

Definitely an inspiration to the rest of us bashing our own.

Thanks!

Cool, thanks, I'll probably just go the cottonball route, but I'll keep my eye out for a fatsuit. I'll be starting this after X-mas, hope it goes as well as yours.:gimli

Thanks! :duff That makes me feel special.

Additionally, I'm not displeased witht the paint job on the head sculpt, so I think I'll just leave it be for now. I might decide to improve on it later down the road, but for now it seems to be just fine.
