OK, we know that for the most part, Sideshow uses a number series for their products, and usually don't skip numbers (unless the product doesn't get made). Now there is no certainty that every number will be used for a product, but the chances are pretty good, so what do you think the earlier missing numbers might be???

I'm thinking 2101, 2102 and 2103 are either Luke, Han and Leia ANH versions; more hopefully, Darth Vader, Stormtrooper and something else that needed a lot of R&D time.

In interviews, they talked about "laying out the line" before any development of figures began, so you have to think those numbers were planned for somebody a long time ago...

...and, notice how SDCC Darth Vader, the "packs", Jabba and Jabba's throne, are all grouped down at the bottom of the first 50 numbers; makes me wonder if they planned out a full 50 items from day one, and will begin a second phase of planning as this first 50 start nearing the end???

I would think the really skipped early numbers would be 3 of the following 6. I am thinking maybe 3-6 as they would all require a lot of R&D time.

1. ANH Luke
2. ANH Han
3. ANH Liea
4. Real fur Chewie
5. Suited Vader
6. Boba Fett

I agree with ya that the ANH stuff is near the top for sure and that they just might have all 50 planned out then will move on to phase 2.

Good point about Chewie! My mind wasn't thinking when I said "or something else that needed a lot of time", but I guess my subconscious was!

It would make sense though that some of the early numbers are items that would take a lot of time to work on. That way they have 40+ other items they can get out while they prefect the R&D on the harder ones. Look at how many holes they still have they have a lot of time to get stuff figured out based on that list.

Would you prefer to know what is being produced , let's say for all of 2007, or do you prefer the element of surprise?

That question has come up before several times and my personal answer is that while the excitement of being surprised is always cool, having a scheduled release allows one to plan accordingly the "funds" beforehand. So in short, either way is fine for me. ;)

I would prefer to be surprised... to a degree. If they could tell us for instance, "we will release 10 12" figures in 2007" but not who they were, that would be enough for me.

But, this little thread is merely for playing the guessing game, and not asking SS what's coming next... :D

Interesting but I think this

2101 - Darth Vader Armored

Something tells me his slot was obviously placed when the line was announced but the R&D has caused its delay...

Keep everything a suprise.

I just checked the LOTR 1/6. You can tell the Fellowship will fill the first 9.

I would like to know... and then leave the surprise as finally seeing the item in preview.

Of course my obsession with SS and this forum might wane in the months between really exciting characters if I knew the line-up.

Its probably healthier for all to keep it a surprise. It also allows SS to change the line-up without any criticism or disappointment.
