Has there been a confirmation of what version of Philipa that we’re expecting in the near future? I know that the Empress Version has been making the rounds during the Cons, however I do recall that Nanjin is working to get the likeness of Michele Yeoh correct.

My Kira and Data both shipped from Collectorzown yesterday. Looking forward to them even though I have mixed feelings on Kira.

Understandable. That figure is obviously supposed to be Major Kira Nerys, but the face sculpt has some issues, the hair is too brown, and the uniform color is...well...even Nanjin seemed unsure about it by the time of release.

I don't remember anymore. A lot. He went back and forth on it a bunch of times like with Odo's uniform and the TWOK jackets. It's hard to keep track.

Got them both yesterday. Kira is fine.. more a shelf filler than anything and not a figure I’m super impressed with but I don’t hate it. Definitely wish it was better in a lot of ways.

Yeah this is one figure I would really love to mod, but I just don't see how a repaint would improve the likeness much, and not sure what I could do to lighten up the outfit. So think I'm stuck with it the way it is.

Having first watched the TOS crew in how they appeared in the movies, that’s the Scotty that’s more recognizable as well. He’ll be made for sure.

That’s unfortunate! Seems to be the same situation at BBTS. I didn’t mind waiting before but once the main crew started coming, I ordered Data, La Forge and Ro direct.

I stopped ordering from Sideshow due to the delays, I’m still waiting for a non Trek order since May 2022 which keeps being pushed back.

I've only ever ordered directly from EXO and it seems to be perfectly well. The shipping tracking in the UK sucks for some reason but that's beyond EXO's control. I've only got 3 of 'em with a 4th on the way but they always appeared in perfect condition.

I'd consider using another if I'm okay with the delay. Honestly, I am fine with delays as I'm not even going to properly display these until I have the full bridge crew so delays on earlier ones are pretty meaningless (would suck to wait 6 months for the last one though!).

But I also don't see a point of not ordering directly from EXO. Is there one?

The other benefit, at least for me, is that it seems to be less costly. I was always being hit with customs fees when going through distribution, but since I switched to direct I haven’t been charged.

I try to keep my critisisms to Nanjin to a minimum but man, he's got some crazy money or something because there's soooo many like.. "Section 31" things like this Genisis Device seen on Facebook which obviously took a lot of money to get even to the early stages... let alone funding the production of them.
I'm kind of nervous that the second 31 stuff is so niche that I don't see how it could possibly be profitable.
I could be 100% dead wrong and stupid. Nanjin could be a genius. It's important to go into my random stupid "guy who knows nothing" thoughts knowing that I don't actually know what I'm talking about. I just see some of those niche things and would hope they wouldn't somehow do bad and take down the rest of the business.

Probably not. But I really love Trek. I have some disposable income. But even I can't see myself buying most of those crazy niche ones and have no idea how they're viable business.

Take my random thoughts as the idiotic ramblings of an uneducated madman. I just would have thought that if it could be made proftable someone would have done it already.

I'm so curious about his business. I would love to see how much each figure sells. I feel like it's surprisingly low but honestly don't know what kind of sales these figures expect in any situation! Double digits? Triple? Quadruple? Are there 100 TNG Datas out there or 10,000?

I wish I could learn. It's facinating. I want to learn how stupid I am when it comes to an industry I know nothing about lol. And I'm paranoid because I feel an extreme need to complete at least my TNG crew. I want EXO-6 to climb and do super well.

At best, it depends on the merchant; loyalty points and free/cheaper shipping.

Your patience for completed crews is an advantage though. I'm buying on a character-by-character basis so I generally want every order as soon as it drops lol. I waited 7 months post-release to get Capt. Archer via Sideshow, never again. I'd rather pay the $25 Impatience Tax and get the figure within 10 days of paying the invoice.

I also prefer to have the producer collect the entirety of the profit margin where possible too. As someone whose most-anticipated figures are not marquee characters, it likely behooves me to cut out middlemen and ensure every dollar I spend goes back into keeping the T'Pols, Dukats, Martoks, Ezris, etc, coming.

I suspect the majority of these things won’t even make it to production, how many people want a genesis device especially at the premium price that these niche runs will require?

Sometimes getting back to basics is the best way forward, focus on creating consistent high quality releases which is something they’ve historically struggled with, mind you TNG and DS9 have been better for the most part.

NT puts a lot of these ideas and promises out there, such as the Borg Alcove, then you never hear a word about it again.

If all the main crews get completed I think most people would be satisfied with that, anything beyond that is a bonus.
