I pledged to get the special edition collectors physical copy of the game.....wish i could have afforded the 4000pounds to be able to write my own story in there

I'm mid 30s and for people my ancient age or older this was THE video game.

It really was the first global video game hit. My brother and I played Elite and its sequel Frontiers for 5 or so years.

The third game 'First Encounters' had potential but sadly had too many bugs and clashed with a changing industry.

So now almost 30 years after the first game was released, the fourth incarnation is coming!

Well, it's great that old masters and titles will be back, especially from genres which no one (publishers) want to touch anymore, because they hate work and go the lazy way where they don't have to do much.

I think Kickstarter is proving how badly uncreative video game companies have become.

Its proving multiple times over that there is not only a market but that people are ready and willing to part with cash to buy updates and new versions of these games.

Elite: Dangerous reached its stretch goal as well and is now the highest ever Kickstarter funding goal reached!!

Over 1.5 million pounds meaning there will now be a Mac version built as well, and more ships and content at launch! Wooo!
