Ebay alerts for specific items

This is the first time I've done this and I'm a little confused on how this works. There is a statue I added to my list of things to alert me on last night. It says anytime a new listing comes up, I'll be alerted through email. Well, this morning I checked my email and I've gotten alerts for listings that have ended months ago and other listings which have been up for a few days. How do I set this to only alert me for things which are recent?

I usually set up my search criteria to only search for "newly listed" items. That option will be by other search options like "lowest price" or "ending soonest"

Ah I see. I guess I wasn't looking at the most recent listings when I clicked on follow search. Thanks

I have mine the same way (newly listed). It works fairly well.

I guess they got rid of the Wanted to Buy section on eBay. I got a few things that way.
