Dyeing, painting, or coloring faux leather(or similar material) tips?

Does anyone here have any tips or recommendations for ideal methods for applying color to faux leather or similar materials?

I have the coat of the Hot Toys Storm Shadow figure, which I would like to be in a different color for a custom project. Can anyone suggest a good way to change it from white to black?

i have had luck painting real as well as faux leather with acrylic paint. then seal it and it does not rub off. tried spray paint but that did not seem to stick.

Man I painted the original green jacketed Indy PF brown with acrylics and sealed it. Looks fantastic.

What's the wright method of painting with acrylic paints do you use a brush or a sponge and how do you seal it what do you use I'm trying to dye a black flux to grey and it's really killing me I used a spray paint and it just won't dry!!
