I just tried out a couple new casinos in my area, not bad, just slots
and found one place i did okay winning wise the other place that just opened up I lost my shirt at...
(lost $160-<my max betting is at most 200->)

i rarely gamble but find it fun a couple times a year.

Anyone else go (often/what are your limits/etc)?

Yeah, I think its awesome pouring money into games I never win. Much funner than say, buying a collectible.

;)

slots suck. but spending 16 consecutive hours at Sigma Derby is one of the most awesome experiences I ever had...lol

I like going but I don't always gamble. Slots, I only do the penny ones and usually end up doubling my money. Blackjack is iffy. Sometimes I do really good at a hot table other times I just lose horribly.

My wife and I go to a local casino every Christmas Eve. We don't have any kids and no family that lives close by so this has become sort of a tradition for us.

Wife plays slots while I go to the poker room. We go in with $300 for both of us. Last time we walked out with $2500 after only being there an hour.:lol

Love the casinos in Vegas, the one in Montreal blows, such a dump, filled with so many degenerates.

I go to play hold em only, never liked any of the other games, Let it ride is ok, you can win big if you get lucky

I'm pretty good at playing cards (hold 'em), but I limit myself to just 5 or 6 times a year. I usually win, leave on a big adrenaline high, and then don't play again for a few months.

I love Vegas. Life is short, have fun while you can.

I like Vegas as long as I don't lose. LOL.

Nah, I can handle the net effect of losing a bit over the coarse of a trip, but I once had a Vegas trip where I just couldn't catch a break on anything and Vegas gets unfun quick if you're hesitant to bet because you feel like everything you do is losing.

I've been on other trips that winning has paid for the whole trip.

When I first got old enough to gamble, some family brought me out to the casino for some reason. So, I went, though I had no interest. They kept giving me money to gamble, and I kept losing. Ultimately, I spent about $80 in the slots, and never won more than $5 at any time before losing it all.

Being someone who likes to behave rationally (the odds are always against you winning at the casino), I didn't like the idea to begin with, but that experience I had really sealed it for me. If I would have been "lucky" and had won $100 or so, who knows? I might be a gambling addict right now. As it stands, if I ever go to a Casino again, I'll bring all my money I plan on betting, put it on either red or black at the Roulette wheel, win or lose, and leave. You still have a less than 50% chance of winning, but the odds are way better than they are with anything else there.

probably why you lost all your money to begin with. You dont know what or how to play the games. Roullette is for suckers, as well as many other games in the casinos. Stick to card games and you'll have a better chance of doing well. Ironically most people dont like the card games because they take "work". But that is exactly why they are the best to play and give you good odds.

Admittedly, I don't know much about gambling. I lost because they were giving me money for slots, and the machines did not "reinforce" my behavior enough to keep my interest (they are typically rigged to do so, based on support from psychological research), so I never went back. But if you have a Roulette wheel with 38 spots total, with 18 of those are red and 18 black, then you have a 47% chance of winning if you bet on one color or the other. From my understanding, you win what you bet if you place your bet on a color. I seriously doubt that most non-professional players could win hands of poker or blackjack over 47% of the time. As such, betting on Roulette as I said doesn't seem like the "sucker" move at all to me, when you almost have a 50% chance of winning. Of course, the odds are still slightly against you, but they are always against you in every casino game, which is why it seems to me the sucker is anyone who bets at a casino at all. Obviously, if you have money to blow, it could be fun. But personally, I can think of better ways to spend my money.

I dont gamble like I use to. At one point I was going to Vegas at least once a month for a weekend. I had good weekends, bad weekends but most the time I would end up breaking even for the weekend(win just enough to pay for hotel and food). My limit for losing would be a couple grand most weekends. And yes I had weekends where I lost all of my limit. I also had a few weekends where I did VERY well. I dont play slots unless I am just killing a little bit of time and then its only 20 here and there. I play just about every table game depending on what I felt. I would not stay at a table if I had a streak of more then 5-6 straight loses. It has saved me many times where I would be coming off a hot streak and that got me away from a table with most my winning instead of giving it all back. If I want to kill lots of time when having a bad weekend I would play poker, I could play a $100 for hours and hours, if I wanted to try and make fast money (or lose it fast) I would play War or Roulette. If I am just playing then I could play any other table game. Stay away from the parlor games they have worse odds then slots most the time. The most important thing is dont play more then you can afford to lose, dont do it thinking you will make money, and do it because its fun. The minute its not fun and you start to stress about what you are betting its time to stop.

I would disagree that Roulette is for suckers, there are systems that will work quite well. Its like any other table game it takes work and discipline. There are pros that will only play roulette and make a good living at it. Plus if you where to go you can find single 0 roulette which improves your odds.

Craps typically has the best odds with blackjack close behind(however another player playing wrong can destroy those odds) But most table games have a house edge under 4%. The parlor games are most over 10% and some as high as 33%

Its funny how people talk about the times they win some. But, they forget to talk about the time that they loose it all back.
