Definitely go to Santa Monica, the Pier and 3rd St. Promenade, lots to do, see and eat!

Yeah and If you can during the day work you way down to Venice Beach its worth it just to see the interesting people and street shows.

Chateau Marmont and the Mondrion are in West Hollywood - great hotels for seeing stars in bars. Very, very pricey though.

And WeHo is the place to be to have easy access to Hollywood, Universal, etc. and it's a very safe and clean part of LA. WeHo and Santa Monica are probably the places I'd send tourists to stay. But if you're only here 3 days and actually want to get anything accomplished - you'll need a car.

I was looking at The Renaissance Hotel. Looks quite nice, and it's right where all the attractions are. And the metro station is right underneath.

The Renaissance is nice, but it is a typical tourist destination… The Standard is more of a local experience… girls behind glass, celebrity djs etc. the downtown location is cool too… outdoor rooftop club, films projected onto neighbouring buildings…

if you do hit the ocean, check out Abbot Kinney… cool restaurants and shops.

Umm, Sam? The Red Line runs right underneath Hollywood and even goes to Universal Studios.

My bad- I should have clarified. He was talking about wanting to stay in West Hollywood and get to Santa Monica... and that's what I was referring to.
