Thanks. This was a tough one this time. Anyway, here's two pictures of Maul straight out of the box -- no flash/with flash:

He definitely needs some futzing but as you can see the sculpt is excellent! Definitely a home-run for the last figure of Year One. The only nit I can see right now is that the boots are a bit plastic-y looking. Other than that, this figure is awesome. Great accessories, great costume detail, and the dreaded monkey-arm's are a lot less noticeable.

One word of warning to those who "futz": be careful when you take his belt off -- the holes on mine are extremely close to the edge of the leather and if you pull too hard you might rip the hole.

You've done it again WG! :D :clap :maul

Look like you got a great one, boots need weathering but that's all I can see with this guy... SSC homerun!

I can't wait for this figure, looks so sweet next to Qui-Gon.

Maul seems to be able to balance very well without a stand. For those of you who have him, is this true or did you have to take your pics quickly before he fell over?

A little bit. His lower center of gravity and heavy, flatter boots seem to help.

Futzed...

My next move is to use the water-treatment method overnight to help shape his balloon shoulders and settle the "skirt" a bit.

Thanks gdb. A few more days and I'll get to see for myself. :maul

Great pics as usual, WG. I always look forward to the kitchen shots. :maul

Sweet pics Wor-Gar...

Do the red lightsabers have a nice transparent quality to them?

Looks damned good WG! I don't see much shoulder puffiness at all (aka Joan Crawford shoulders) which SSC corrected, thank you!, but I know you want the outfit WG perfect so, water away...

Thanks everyone... Tradition must be upheld. :D

I didn't even realize that this is the first time we've had a red saber. Its pretty much like the green, blue and purple ones -- a bit transparent, which looks really nice if you get some backlighting against it. Maul's double-saber is huge.

OK, for those who dare, here's Maul in water-treatment mode:

And a comparison shot before getting wet.

This really helps the sleeves and when he's dry the fabric will be easier to position. I know he looks a little "flat" now, but you'll see the difference tomorrow.

Oh one last thing, the head looks much better proportioned to the body, especially noticeable in the nude shots.

You have no idea. Thank god for internet filters. :rotfl
Exactly I use to work for a company that built high end filters. We also did reporting and would run tests off some School Districts and Large Compaines logs. WOW you couldn't imagine what people were trying to do at work/school. Just to give you an idea how bad the internet was, our Porn list was just under a 100 megs and that was just a text file with all the site names when I left almost 4 years ago.

GREAT GREAT GREAT pix Wor-Gar!!!! I will be getting mine tomorrow and will definitely be giving him the water treatment. After Luke got it and looked soooo much better, its standard for all SW figures to get the water treatment!!!

Less than 24 hours:maul

Alright, lucky me; Maul arrived a day early! :maul :maul

I have to say this is without a doubt the best Star Wars figure so far, and I've been very happy with all of my figures. But Sideshow really nailed this one!!! Here's some images:

The likeness of Parks is uncanny... just amazingly well done. The only issue I have is that the red on his cheeks seems a bit diffuse as opposed to a clean line. Not sure if others are like this.

I dare you not to sing "Duel of the fates" in your head when posing Maul!!!
maule.jpg

The boots are actually pretty good, just look a bit clunky... especially in photos...

And just so you know, his box is about 1 1/2" taller than previous packages. And yes the inclusive sticker is silver, not gold.

Thanks Pjam... I'm just ecstatic about the figure, I really think it will be hard to find major faults. Unless you happen to get a lame duck.

Not only is it just amazingly well done, but they even made the shipping container safer!

Yes! I think this is one figure that may have been helped by having a 1:1 bust of the original in office.
