Hi guys, I'm trying to make a neckless head sculpt but I'm a hard time cutting a clean slice using the tools that I have available.

Was wondering how do you guys get by when doing custom?

Heat up the neck with a hair dryer and use a x-acto blade to cut it.

I don't think the importance of heating up the neck with a hair dryer and cutting it with a x-acto is stressed enough, so keep that in mind.

Also, you can sand the neck after cutting it, it'll look smoother.

So did you heat it up with a hair dryer and use an x-acto blade to cut it?

What if I just wanted to shorten the neck? I have a couple of headplay sculpts (Connery, Tobin Bell) and the necks are a little too tall. Is it possible to trim these down just a little bit? I guess I could cut the neck with an x-acto but what about the connecting part?
