i have to step in!

if i do a flat work painting i sell it for $300-$2400 depending on size and time, sketches $150-$225, custom hand made figures i start at $1700, tattoos $60 per hour, air brushing depends on the job, etc.
if your wondering why you dont see real artist doing alot of bada$$ preds and putting them up for you to enjoy, its beacuse toy collectors are generally cheap when it comes to QUALITY custom work and its not worth a artists time. i get mad when i see people paying $300-$1000 for a PRODUCTION figure. THIS ISNT A PRODUCTION FIGURE, theirs only 1 in the world! most artists wolnt touch it because the predator takes so much work. im not putting down anyone for being poor, or trying to get that "steal of a life time" but get real, i dont do projects to help your collection out. for the time and investment i have in this figure i deffinatly should have STARTED the bidding at $1200! im a big fan of the pred, and truthfully this is the best predator figure ive seen, and im proud as hell its my work, even if im the only person that likes it. if it doesnt sell, fine ide love to keep it. but this is how i make money and i'll only give it the chance to sell ONCE!

I really do appreciate all the comments from the people who like it, but there's no way you would get the opprotunity to own a work like this for less.

everyone wants the best possible work but they dont want to pay you for it, and this REALLY does pi$$es me off as a artist.

PS- of course the predator wouldnt win the fight, they 98% of the time NEVER win! (but he will if i do anything with it!)

Whoa there chief. There are outstanding artists here, better artists, some who've even been hired by Sideshow for their work, who wouldn't charge that much. I, above most, believe that a fair amount of money should be paid for a fair amount of work, and am the first to jump on baby birds and cheap MOFOs expecting bargain basement pricing for secondary market valued collectibles, but adding an extra $1000 to a $200 figure for a paint job and a handfull of extra accessories is quite absurd.

it's not a issue of "better artists", i never said anything about myself being the best. EVERY artist has strengths and weaknesses. dont try to throw weight around with me. i HAVE alot of friends in the movie industry, comic industry, graphics, music, high art, table top games, everywhere because ive been doing this my entire adult career. just because i dont do things that you know, doesnt mean i dont do top work! the opening bid for the figure is a VERY fair $850! i would be excited to get the $1200! but thats a price for people who CAN afford it, and would really like to own the figure without the BS of bidding. and if you want to build your own, i listed most of the parts i used and ide love to see how you would be able to make a identicle figure FOR $200! HAHAHA :rotfl really! copy me! make it yourself if you like how i built it!

man, if your gona set there and talk like you know something and how you stand up for the artists then NEVER step beyond your boundrys and try to ridicule ANYONE for their prices on their projects! or even belittle someones work with "a paint job and a handfull of extra accessories is quite absurd." ive done tons of galleries and had to swallow my disapproval for the crap other artists put out and the prices they demand. i offer a critique, and NEVER openly naysay their work or project!

buy it or dont! the price isnt MY issue. im tired of seeing so meny good artist getting ripped off trying to make ends meet from people that cry about a price THEY think is fair! "I, above most, believe that a fair amount of money should be paid for a fair amount of work" as a saying in the tattoo industry goes "you get what you pay for". searously if you want a cheaper custom predator you can send me a KENNER predator and I'll hook that up for $100.

shame shame my friend.

I think your work is great! To me as an artist I understand your comments. For all the hours and work you put into the pieces, it hard to let them go for an additional $100-$200 on top of the materials, but at a certain price point you are catering to a small niche market.

Okay, so you're here pimping your ____ which means you're spamming the threads here justifying that pricetag. Positively shameless. :lol

P.S. It would do you some good to read the rules regarding the selling of collectibles and customs on this forum. ;)

I agree dude. Set a fair price you want. Don't listen to these know it all human gods telling you how the world works. As a matter of fact just ignore these people. Trust me it works quite well.

By the way I like your work. I think it's an awesome custom Pred and a sick bio to go with him. Nice work!

I have to respectfully disagree. predaxe is not spamming this thread. Another "SS Freak" started this thread and then other "Freaks" voiced their opinion on the price of the figure. predaxe was explaining why the figure was priced as it was.

I don't remember the rules for selling stuff on this forum applying to an Ebay auction. I don't remember predaxe trying to sell this figure here.

I happen to own a piece that predaxe painted, and it looks great.
The man does good work. I can't afford to pay $1200 for a custom
figure, but I'm not gonna say that the price is absurd.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Calling people cheap because they don't want to pay $1200 for what is essentially a repainted Hot Toys figure is what's absurd.

Its a perspective thing, the artist put in a lot of time, and wants to be compensated for it. You, and what it seems to be a lot of people may not see value in it, (hence the term "starving artist") but there is a value added monetary amount in the piece. On the flip side, I agree the artist should not be calling people "cheap" becuase they don't see the value. I think an explanation of the time and effort that went into creating this one-of-a-kind piece would be better.

Now let's all just kick back and enjoy the man's work!!

They're not being called cheap because they don't see the value in the work. They're being called cheap because they're trying to low ball this guy by bashing his work. Typical cheap son a _____es.

I don't think anyone has really debated on whether or not it's good work, in fact I think most people have said it's a great job, which it is. it's just the price which seems unusually high that's under contestation.

having said that, I have prepared a RAM JAM...just in case.

<a href="https://s441.photobucket.com/albums/qq131/biojex/?action=view&current=the-wrestler.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="https://i441.photobucket.com/albums/qq131/biojex/the-wrestler.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I saw a certain someone say it's just a $200 pred body with a paint job and lots of accessories. Sounds like a knock on the work to me. Trying to justify his reasoning for people not agreeing with the artist price by breaking down what the artist did and used to create the piece.
Thing is... the price is not up to the people. It's up to the artist. Like he said if it does not sell it will gladly remain with him.
Just people being cheap and trying to low ball.

:lol:lol:lol

Low ball him for what!? There's numerous people on this board let alone this hobby that could do the same exact custom for a half the cost.

:duh

Don't hate, just don't buy. He will either lower his price or go out of business... simple economics.

Then these people should do it. But if they don't this is the only piece in existance. That's why it's custom. No appreciation. You've contributed with another excuse to low ball. Sad.
