Calling all Nikon SLR cameras

Didn't know where to post this so i'll post it here. I have a Nikon D-3100 and I want to take it out on a kayak to do some photography. I'm afraid of dropping it in the water if I accidentally fall or drop it. Does anyone know of any precautions I should take to prevent an untimely death to my camera? Besides not dropping it?

Getcha a good water proof/underwater housing for it on Amazon.com. Well worth the price to protect it from a fall in the water.
