these companies will continue making these little gems from non-blockbusters..... until they can earn enough money to buy liceneces like Batman, Terminator, and Iron Man.

I find it strange though, why can't a huge company making huge profits afford to take a chance on a less obvious license like Carlito's Way? Why is it only fledgling companies that can do that?

Because fledgling companies are stuck with the less obvious licenses, the bigger companies have already eaten up the safer more moneymaking licenses... if the fledglings had that chance, they too would have gobbled it up...

That doesn't address why big companies don't take up niche licenses though. Only why smaller companies have no choice other than niche licenses.

I think that's the key word. Big companies don't take chances on things that may be hit or miss. When you’re successful at what you’re currently doing, and you’ve become this well-oiled machine (well sort of :wink1:), why gamble on a maybe? When you’re balancing time (schedules and deadlines) and money, it's a no brainer to go for the sure shots first. Going for the smaller properties is going to appease the niche and cult markets (which I understand aren't small), but they're not the money makers. I think HT is much more of a money maker than a niche crowd pleaser

It does... big companies can afford to buy the big licenses... smaller companies cant always afford that AND big licenses guarantee more sales than niche ones which can be either a hit or a miss... When HT can have all the big licenses and be involved in producing them why would they bother about niche ones? Business wise its perfectly logical... Today Blitzway would have done the same if the roles were reversed...

I'm glad they’re not reversed because we do need someone to cover this kind of ground. Unless EB & HT lose certain licenses (which is not unheard of for big beast companies to lose their grip), they have a big portion of block buster stuff locked.

We need the guys like Blitzway to continue taking on Carlito type characters. They won't be able to get HT big with this but they will be the go-to guys for all the more "cult" level movies. If they can do 4-8 figs per year this way they won't be doing so badly.

Blitzway does still have a chance to grab a booming new license that hasn't been born yet, but the Marvel's, DC's & Disney's of the world are locked up right now.

Since we're talking cult status figures...And since it doesnt look like any of the BIG companies will do it, I'd love to see BW do a Snake Plissken figure...An official figure from the movie...Enough people have been begging for one over the years...I know there's always talk about getting approval and lisencing issues, etc...But barring all that, it really is past time we saw this figure...I know some other company did a make-shift custom figure awhile back, but no....Could you imagine if BW did get approval to do this figure...What kind of job they could do with Kurt's headsculpt?...anyhoo, just an idea...

Matt

Just watched the movie again after years and it really holds up. Would be great if BW could follow this up with a Bennie Blanco (didn't know Leguizamo could really act), Kleinfeld, or Lalin.

I'm with ya. The Russel that I'd really like to see is Jack Burton! I really hope that Blitzway could develop into that kind of company. We need someone to fill that void. And hopefully they wouldn't be bound by one genre. It would be great to see them tackle everything that is popular enough that it has a market of buyers that are willing to spend $200 on a figure, but not as global recognized has the bigger Sci-fi and comic culture properties.

I talking things like: Natural Born Killers, 007, True Romance, Blade Runner, Mad Max, Goodfellas, Casino, Big Trouble in Little China, etc., etc.

Horror stuff would be sick too. Texas Chainsaw, Friday the 13th, NOES, Phantasam, etc.

One could dream....

I don't think anyone outside of Sideshow (licensed stuff that is) would bother with horror. It's a very particular demographic. Tbh I can't blame HT's for their choice of licenses. Doing the comic stuff could keep them afloat for many many years.

I'm just happy we have a Blitzway available to us.

Guys, I dont want to "Spam" the thread but I've heard that these figures are quite hard to get hold of in the UK, not sure if thats right or wrong :dunno
I have however just managed to get a smaller order from Blitzway so will have them in stock within a couple of weeks....
Please PM me if interested.

Thanks :duff

Those are exactly the types of movies I would want figures from. If somehow the Blitzway's of the world can fill that void...then that's great. Maybe it's possbile to become a powerhouse of the "Niche Market"

Who has it on its way?
I would like to read what a boardmember think of it.
I have yet to pay for mine...

That's very true about Horror. I would love to see all that old Sideshow stuff redone (by anyone brave enough) at a HT level of quality.

Even outside of horror I'd love for characters from the types of movies I mentioned come to life. I'm praying that Blitzway or SOMEONE can step to the plate and be that guy

While I'm still high on my dream I'll add Jackie Brown, Boogie Nights, Training Day, Pulp Fiction, The Princess Bride, Full Metal Jacket, Devil's Advocate.....

Whoa...I think I'm starting to crash off my high and now I'm getting depressed realizing that none of this s__t will ever happen :lol

You have great taste in movies and a fantastic avvy my friend :hi5::duff

The strange thing though is the big companies are sitting on licenses they're not using. HT, looking at you.

I do, should be about a week or so away.

I'll say it now. Can tell paintjob's taken a hit from proto to production. Will let everyone know if it's really bad, or not a big drama.

Edit: I will say though... the lighting in the proto, if you look at it, very very well done. Gives a good gravitas to the figure. I'm certainly hoping a lot of it's lighting.

it does look a little pale maybe. i care this much: 0

getting antsy for a shipping notice!
