1/6 Samurai Swords, what length?

Greetings,
I am new to this forum. I have been a long time member of the SAG and Sixth Division and decided to expand into other forum communities. I currently have an interest in 1/6 Samurai figures.

I have acquired a few 1/6 scale Samurai swords this past year but when I mount them on my figs they seem very small. Compared to the DiD offerings, these swords look like toothpicks. Any idea what a common Katana in 1/6 scale would measure out to be? ...also how thick?

If I remember correctly, it should be anywhere from 13 to 15 cms total length...

But real swords varied greatly in length and shape over the centuries (roughly from a 60 cm blade length to about 1m). Most were in the 60-70 cm range though... (Shinto period)

I always find something on line as reference and then just divide the real length by 6.

Welcome to the board OH!!! There where many sizes so its hard to say what would be correct.
