1/6 real metal weapons?

I want to try and make some real metal blades for a 1/4 scale Freddy Krueger that I'm working on....but I have no idea how to go about it.
What type of metal do I use?
Where do I buy it?
How do I shape it?

If you aren't too obsessed with scale, you can purchase tin sheeting from a hardware store. Its pretty cheap and it can be cut with scissors. If you want true scale, stainless or mild steel can be bought from Lowe's and if you have a jig saw, you can use a metal cutting blade to cut them out. They can then be filed, dremeled or sanded into shape.

It all comes down to specifically what you are trying to accomplish.
