    Edo-period samurai hankyu archer

Oh wow! Thanks for the ref pics!! Can't really get a good look at the examples in TLS because the sequences are too damn fast-paced lol! Looks like I got it pretty damn close anyway :p The armor is actually a very drab green. It looks more brown in the pics. I think repainting the armor now is...

    Edo-period samurai hankyu archer

The mempo is a modified DiD mask. I cut off the neck armor, sanded the edge down and drilled holes to attach the maille. I am still thinking about doing a lacquer finish. Possible diluted Future wash?

    Edo-period samurai hankyu archer

I started this figure in 2003 (way before DiD cranked out their samurai line) and have completed him, sans the nihontō and wakizashi swords. This was my first attempt at scratch-building armour. The armor is made from 22-gauge galvanized sheet metal and is strung w/ silken embroidery floss. The...

Strider, on the outskirts of Bree (MANY pics)

Well, close. Had in mind the tree was felled w/ a two-man crosscut saw.

Diorama depicts Strider/Aragorn at the border of the village Bree.

    Aragorn Premium Format!!!

I disagree. Aragorn is the Chuck Norris of Middle Earth... I dig the Aragorn in the snow pics. Very, very cool!!

Thanks, Alex. Glad you dig him :) I was worried about the cloak tattering at one point. I thought maybe I "moth-holed" it a touch much, but after the weathering went down it actually looked fine. It does, of course like most cases, look a hell of a lot better in person than in the pics. Curse...

Thanks, moxie :) The buckle ws actually pretty easy. My wife is an avid artist herself, hand-making jewelry w/ fine stones, beads and wire so I always have a nice supply of material for my own creations ;). I used a strand of some 18 gauge silver wire for the buckle/tongue. I also flattened some...

After the HS repaint, I went ahead and weathered up the rest of the figure. I improved a few things as well--like fitting the belt w/ a working metal buckle and making some alterations (slimming the waist and sleeves on the jacket as well as the waist on the jerkin). Also cut my teeth on the...

The SS boots fit the TT ankle pegs perfectly. I had to boil the boots a bit to pull out the SS pegs then pop the boots onto the TT body. Nice and snug, too. As for the wrist pegs, all you have to do is cut the SS pegs down the same height as the TT pegs and they fit fine. Also, nice and snug.

Umm...maybe because it is a doll?:lol I'm jazzed w/ this one. It has turned out a lot better than I expected. Can't wait for it to arrive so I can start tweaking it!

YEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!! Multiple buy for me. That armor is sick and I dig the "chain" shirt.

    Ignite 1/6 Ninja!!!

Thanks :D I made the rope wraps out of black hemp twine (from Wal-Mart). The sune-ate/shin armor was made from strips of sheet metal which was attached to cloth leg wraps using twine. The waraji are made from hemp twine as well, using Dragon Models boot inserts as a form. Everything is fully...

Hot Toys 1/6th scale The JOKER Photo thread

No offense, but why does this have to be some drawn-out pissing contest on who's sculpt paint is better?? I think everyone who has shown their skills deserves praise and *perhaps* constructive criticism. Beyond that--if you've nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all...

Female Black Ninja by Crazy Owners

Hmmm....I dig the weapon variation, but the figure doesn't make the grade. Exposed cleavage and fishnet body stocking?? Meh...pass.
