instead of saying he wants to do six movies why doesn't he just focus on the ones that he is doing. I can't imagine something happening like Netflix doesn't follow through with his plans and he starts crying about his vision wasn't finished and a small group of people lobby for the Rebel cut.
His head is way to big. Great ideas but terrible execution. If it's a hit thats great but if not on to the next.

That’s a complete misunderstanding of what happened with Rebel Moon, lol. That’s not what happened at all.

He pitched an R-rated “Heavy Metal” long form movie that deconstructs the sci-fi space opera (i.e., Star Wars). Netflix said fine, we’ll let you make that. But give us also PG13 2 hour cuts that work better for ad supported streaming platforms such as their own ad supported plan and presumably for possible licensing to other ad supported services such as Amazon Prime, Pluto, and Tubi. Because that’s where streaming is making its money, is with the cheaper ad supported platforms. They make way more money from ads than premium subscriptions.

But anyway, no one complained that there was no director’s cut, there was no fan lobbying to “release the Rebel Moon director’s cut,” etc. He filmed both versions simultaneously because that was the arrangement with Netflix. But to be clear it was Netflix that insisted on him making also the shorter PG13 cuts. That was never Zack’s idea. But he was like fine, I’ll do that if that’s what’s required to make the movie he actually wanted to make.

People that dislike what Snyder does to begin with… in all honesty it’s hard to imagine them somehow magically liking whatever he comes up with for the director’s cuts of Rebel Moon. I’m sure they’ll come at it hard as ever.

But I like what he does so I won’t let that negativity cow me. I’m just being a voice for those that do like the deconstruction and his offbeat, subversive vision in general.

To be fair, most people who didn't like BvS liked Snyder's longer cut better, so if there is an improvement on the story and the characters, I'm sure people will recognise that.
However, unlike BvS, which I loved, Rebel Moon isn't a very good movie IMHO, so I'm not holding my breath.

This has been my biggest issue with ZS. Instead of recognizing the time limitations that are a part of releasing big budget movies in his genre of choice and telling a complete, coherent story in that length of time, he almost always requires an extra 30 minutes to an hour. So eventually he either (a) compromises and agrees to the initial release of a hacked up version (BvS, RM) or (b) gets fired and they hack it up without him (JL). Now maybe RM's being for streaming vs. theatrical release makes it somewhat different & he had it all mapped out with Netflix, but the fact remains he's still initially releasing something that is not the complete story that he wants to tell. It hasn't served him well before with either the critics or the public, so one shouldn't be surprised that it's happening again.

It was better but that was a pretty low bar. It provided clarity for a couple of the original release's WTF moments but IMO it didn't fix the fundamental problems with the movie. That said, there are still parts that I enjoy - I can't hate on Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.

I sat through it out of morbid curiosity, same as the first.

This one's worse.

Boring, boring, boring.

Cliched and predictable.

It's like a children's coloring book. It's not a serious movie.

If you want to see what the fuss is about, watch part one. That was at least good for a laugh.

This one is nothing. This is just the movie equivalent of staring at a blank beige wall.

There's not a single moment in this two-hour slog that contains anything original or novel. Anyone that's ever seen a movie will be able to predict every moment and story beat of this sorry excuse for filmmaking. There are zero stakes because there are zero characters to give even the remotest of ***** about. This makes the bland cookie-cutter cast of Rogue One look like the cast of Glengarry Glen Ross in comparison.

"Mr. Snyder, what you've just released is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever seen. At no point in your rambling, incoherent "film" were you even close to anything that could be considered an original thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having watched it.

I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

Oh, Scargiver dropped a week ago? I had no idea.

No plans to watch it.

It's a shame there's really no way to see how this is doing. It allows fans to believe it is hugely successful (however they determine that -- by views?) and it allows non-fans to believe it has come and gone without affect.

I have no idea what the real world thinks of this because there's no money trail to track.

........... just finished watching....................... really don't know what to say .................. .......................... ................................................................ ........................... ........................... ................. ............................ ............................... .................................................. .................................................... ........................................... .................................. ........................ ................. .............................. .......................... but I tried, I swear to god, I really tried!

I think it just dropped today, so you haven't missed any "not watching it" time lol...

It's currently at 16% on RT (41% audience score :horror), whereas RB Part 1 clocked in at 21% and 57%. Yep, I'm sure Netflix will be game for 4 or 5 more of these. :rotfl

Wonder what my buddy t800 thinks. He’s been quiet. Perhaps Snyder let him down

lol yes!!! 😂

Seriously though... after having seen the second part now I really don't think I'm going to watch the extended cut.
No amount of added content can save what is already there...

My thoughts exactly. If there are any boobie scenes, I'll just look at them on the boobie scenes website. No way will I ever sit through either part of this movie again. Life's too short.

I found the first movie decently watchable, thanks to Boutella and Skrein and all the crazy visuals Snyder threw at the screen. And plus I was just curious to see what all the talk was about.

I don't feel any such curiosity about this second movie. Lol
