So Zack mentions in the Empire magazine interview that Rebel Moon Part 3 has been green-lit by Netflix and is up next for him in his production schedule. Netflix is evidently happy with performance of the franchise. Views of Part 1 were quite good despite critics panning it. Zack said 80-90M when he was on Joe Rogan.

It’ll be fascinating to see what sorts of view numbers both the PG13 cut of Part 2 and both R-rated director’s cuts get. That’s all that really matters to Netflix. Because that determines what advertisers are willing to pay for commercials inserted into the movies.

We’ll probably never know the answer to this, but the advertising bucks that the PG13 cut of Rebel Moon Part 1 made on the family friendly ad-supported plan has made has undoubtedly been the determining factor for moving forward with Part 3. Well, that and if there have been a substantial number of new subscriptions to Netflix since Rebel Moon launched in December.

Return of the king is 3 hrs long.

How did I justify 9 hrs I literally told you lord of the rings is a trilogy of movies that have a beginning middle and end. Much different then watching a 6 hr movie straight through like you said. That is definitely not the same thing . Like keep up man.
When did I say one movie was 6 hours long?

No don’t back track . You and alatar said because Snyder is making a 6 hr film people will think it’s long and hate on him cause it’s Snyder.

I responded in saying yea it’s to long.

Then you said lotr did it and I said those are three movies not one single film. Have you forgotten what you wrote orrrrr?

I think wez was probably confusing what I said with what T8OO said. I mentioned that Zack Snyder has said that he recommends that folks watch the two director’s cuts back to back, although taking breaks as needed obviously. He shot them as one movie, actually. But for practical purposes he broke them into two separate films. Anyway, I don't recall T8OO saying that he feels folks are compelled to watch it as one six hour experience, versus splitting it up into two movies. Surely many if not most viewers will split the watch between the two films on two different nights.

The point that T8OO and I have been making is that if people do decide to watch both movies back to back, there's at least one good precedent for a long watch like that, LotR. That's all. I also mentioned that people have no problem binge watching an entire season of a TV show in one sitting these days. It's not a bold or outrageous claim or anything. No one is saying that the director's cuts of Rebel Moon will rival LotR in terms of film mastery. Just that watching something for 6 hours in the comfort of one's home, taking breaks as needed is not a huge ordeal. Good grief, lol!

I guess I'll add another comment about the good natured ribbing of being "obsessed" about Snyder's films...

I guess when one looks at politics and religion it's not so weird a situation to defend something that other people vehemently hate. I have jokingly compared reaction to Snyder's films to perceptions of the "the dress" as either gold and white or black and blue.* But in reality that analogy is actually not far off.

There's so much that I genuinely admire about Snyder's filmmaking style. I legit love most of the films he's made--and since I love cinema that's a rather big deal in my world. People that hate Snyder's films typically really cannot imagine how or why people like it. And what I've consistently found on Twitter and Reddit is they are genuinely vexed that someone does. So this is something that if you do really like it, it's constantly under attack. And we defend. Many of us that defend have learned to keep it civil even when the tone of people attacking it it is really obnoxious. (And that's not aimed at anyone here, you guys are all pretty chill. I'm talking about Twitter and Reddit.) But we're human. Anyway, life is too short for me to dislike anyone personally over a movie, so I'm fine if others hate it. But that's not going to stop me from explaining why it strikes a chord with me when I get the opportunity.

*It is gold and white, btw.
