Same! I actually had to work overnight and didn't get to bed until 7 this morning so I'm shocked that I even heard the text message come through which woke me up. I thought I had missed it when the text read "10:00AM" as my brain wasn't registering time-zones. This was worth losing sleep over though :lol
Some would say its meant to be!
Others would say the sound of the text going off was a push notification to trigger an addicts reflex
Both are true!

Artisan versio was an easy pass for me - the Standard gives me everything I need. I'll have him in his had, so the real cloth bandana won't be missed and I don't I'll pose him in a way that will show off the back of his head, so all that braiding work would likewise be lost. I also don't want the diorama base since I'm crafting my own ship deck diorama for this one. So, I'm very happy with the standard version and - it saved me $200 over the artisan version with no nerve-racking wait in the queue or wait-list BS :)

Made it to the order page, but once I clicked on the standard to see its sub-$300 pricetag, the Artisan stopped making sense.

Was thinking about this last night. When it comes to InArt, both versions are attractive with the rooted one being the nicest. When it comes to Hot Toys, not only is it less clear, but in some cases (like this one IMO) the rooted version makes the standard look better.

Maybe I'm just not invested enough and Davy Jones is more my jam, but it doesn't feel like Hot Toys is pushing themselves as far as InArt with these Artisan editions.
I think the best thing they've achieved here is making a solid Jack figure available again with some nice improvements and a reasonable (if you go non-Artisan) price tag.

AND Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere comes my crippling financial anxiety about spending so much money....
Well the order high was nice while it lasted.
😅

Honestly - it might be worth the thirty quid just to have more time to make the decision.

There are only a few Artisan figures that I would consider getting... and Jack is one of them, so I figured why not make this my first Artisan.

I don't expect to be purchasing another for a very long time.

Are you waiting for Artisan John Mcclane with a little patch of hair? :lol

Woof -- this is a tough one
I am still SUPER happy with my DX06, its still one of the best Hot Toys figures ever and a cracking representation of our beloved Captain Jack...
BUT there are parts of this figure I really like and I do wonder if its time to update [but is this an upgrade or not I can't tell!]

This may well be the path I go - I imagine it will be pretty hard at first to get those particular pieces like the leather belts and boots, but with those upgrades also being part of the standard release hopefully enough of them will be parted out.

@Gipetto0812 - you really are the man with the plan when it comes to these Pirates figures - help this old [in spirit] indecisive git make a decision, is this significantly better than the DX06?

Now... that is the question isn't it?
I may be in the same boat
Sorry for not seeing this sooner!
I think MaulFan answered pretty well though. Glad you got one and definitely think the deposit is worth securing one so you have more time to think about like you mentioned in a later post. You have a whole year+ before this thing will even begin to ship to really decide.

Oh man....

But yes, at least you have time to consider now... I'm still not sure furry dreads are worth the additional $100 (but thank god for reward points).
Yes! Though, I'm a little shocked the Artisan was only $500 when folks were thinking to would be closer to $600 before taxes and shipping. I had almost $100+ in RPs as well that were going to expire soon so this was perfect timing.

At least the bill doesn't come due for another year+.

What was the NRD on this, I forgot to look?

$49.50. 10% of the MSRP

Oh, and here comes the Toys Wonderland email - claiming to have 800 of them available.
On a scale of zero to not a f-ing chance - how true do you think that is?

For me I think its artisan or nothing, if I am replacing the excellent DX06 then it needs to be a top to bottom overall improvement.
The money is crazy for a figure I already have I suppose - but if I manage to sell the DX06 + the shark diorama base [sue me I think its awesome, its a fricking zombie shark, cannon and skull+crossbones - name anything more piratey!] it ought to take some of the sting out of it

A pleasant surprise, but it might also reflect the reuse on here. I think if the bandana fit closer and the beads were all real (as they are on the now 10 year-old Elder Predator figure), a $600 price tag would've felt more justified. It would certainly stand out more from previous versions.

My NEXT Artisan purchase...

authentic "initial cast' Darth Vader...

Same - I love Jack and the Pirate movies, one of my [only] good early memories with my dad was when he took me to the cinema to watch the first Pirates movie for my birthday when I was visiting for the weekend and we had a great time, it was a blisteringly hot day and had ice cream in the intermission [old fashioned cinema that still had those] and quoted the lines to each other.

Honestly - I don't hate the idea! 😅 :ROFLMAO:
I'd 100% buy an artisan or Inart Hans Gruber

No worries mate - Maul was brilliant and like you say its worth the NRD just so I can take my time in making the decision and not be torn apart by FOMO.
I'm settling back into excitement now, my love for the character is once again pushing down my financial sense! :ROFLMAO:
Davy Jones was my first ever Hot Toys [either him or Jack Nicholson Joker - it was a long time ago and I was a lot younger] and its always had a special place in my heart along with Pirates as a whole - and Jack is the heart and soul of those movies.

Honestly - same, at $600 I would have said no - this placed it at the price of an Inart figure so that was why I caved, especially seeing as I have so far not caved and bough Paul and also cancelled my Inart Cavill.
Price is more than I hoped and less than I feared :ROFLMAO:
