So Nanjin was saying on Facebook he wants more people to pre-order Bashir because he's not selling as well as he'd hoped.

I made this comment in reply:
Nanjin Tam, I'm sure it does, but each character is different. Bashir will, I think, be your worst selling DS9 figure because, really, he is no one's favorite from DS9. He's a good character, but people like him best paired with someone. Bashir AND O'Brien. Bashir AND Garak. Not so much just Bashir. I'm learning that lesson the hard way right now. I just sold off my entire Art Asylum Trek collection on Ebay, and you know who just won't sell? Bashir. Not regular Bashir, not Tribbles TOS Bashir. No one even looks at him. I can sell Ezri for $78, but no one even looks at Bashir.
My advice? Don't base how you approach DS9 on how Bashir does.

I’m guessing it has a lot to do with financing the next figure, not so much the push to see if DS9 is popular enough to continue.
If that's the case, they probably should have done Bashir second to last.
From a pro wrestling perspective, he's the bathroom break match, and instead Nanjin's putting him at the 9:00 hour.

Can't fault that logic despite me liking Bashir a lot once they started giving him good storylines and making him genetically engineered.

IMO I think Martok, Garak, Dukat and Weyoun will outsell Bashir and possibly Obrien.

And I know he wouldn't sell well but I think getting a Vic would be fun and I'd think he would be super easy to do.

It’s funny because yesterday Nanjin was saying Bashir was doing well. I’ll probably get him eventually but still need to get Odo.

O'Brien, Garak, Dukat & Weyoun are must haves for me.

Not interested in Martok, but MAY go for a Vic (but I doubt they will do him).

There's plenty of other "side characters" that I'd gladly buy though!

I'm thinking EXO-6 have converted from a (supposed) 5-year plan to a 15-year plan (inflation - darn it - it gets EVERYWHERE!)

We will see :)

I never understood why the Art Asylum Ezri consistently sells so high. Yeah it has a cool phaser rifle accessory, but why is she headcand shoulders above Jadzia? Wre they made in some super limited quantity or something?

As for Bashir, if the theory of the case is correct, a Bashir / Ezri same day pre-order would have helped... but I doubt it. Who doesn't think O'Brien will get released? Are people really holding off thinking he wont and theyll be stuck? I suppose anything possible, but highly unlikely, no?

I suppose its in some way an argument to buy an extra if you can, because there'll probably be a healthy secondary market whenever the Miles pre-order goes out, then again if an Ezri is made. I'm dubious though.

I'm mystified by it as well. All I can think of is, it was made in smaller quantities than Jadzia, and also not necessarily as sought after when they were normally available at retail. That Ezri I sold was unboxed, with NO accessories, so I can only imagine what she would have sold for MOC.

I guess I'm one of the few who actually preferred the brash and enthusiastic Bashir from the previous seasons. Once we had that big revelation he became all grim and self-important and was nowhere near as fun to watch.

In any case, it's not a surprise that the figure's not selling well. Although it IS very early and it may just be that he's not a character people feel inspired to order on Day 1, but will still pick up later to complete their DS9 collection.

Seems premature to be speaking about sales disappointment when he literally went up for PO yesterday.

I generally feel that the majority of the characters on DS9 are equally likeable, aside from Quark and Garak who have that extra “it” factor.

Always liked Bashir, even in TNG with his crossover appearance in Birthright. Wish we would’ve gotten more interactions between both series.

Watch it.....
I have a confession to make. I am actually Captain Boday and I can’t help it if your lady is into my transparent skull. No matter what I do she keeps coming back and is constantly raving about my cerebral cortex. I guess we’re just destined to be eskimo brothers.

I’m more of a Mirror T’Pol kind of guy but c'est la vie. Guess I’ll be seeing you at Easter dinner.

Hey, how, what, who ?!?!? o_O

. . . I ordered day 1, and I am a people !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . . . in fact: I am also not a number, and I is a free man! (well, maybe not according to the Wife)

Personally, my DS9 collection was only ever going to be Quark, Kira, and Odo. Can't buy every Trek figure, and I'm going to be all-in on the TNG crew.

Funny thing about Birthright, it was supposed to be, I think, Dax in that role but she wasn't available.

Terry had a bigger part than Sid in "Move Along Home," so he was ultimately chosen to go over to the TNG sets and do the scenes with Brent Spiner when she couldn't.

Well that certainly would have made more sense, having a science officer like Dax examining a mysterious artifact with Data and Geordi on the Enterprise. Always seemed weird having Bashir in those scenes.

Shot the narrator parts of this with my wife years ago and then presented that footage to Paramount to include in their release of their behind the scenes piece.

I was going to re-share this here to mark our anniversary, but I see someone has shared it on Facebook recently without my permission, so I thought I’d go ahead and post it here a little earlier than I had planned. As always….You’re welcome.
