A few crummy pics from me:

Would've been nice if HT included some kind of stand to display the extra head and chest piece with the deluxe like they did with the ROTJ version...

Way back when, I bought 3 of the Iron Man Accessory set light up helmet arc reactor stands (the set that came with that table and stuff). Hope this clean Helmet fits on it. It did come with 2 different sized head ball joints. I used one for the SS ESB/ROTJ Deluxe Vader Shaw head. Worked out great with that.

One thing that bothers me with any figure with light up functions and Justin mentioned it in his review- things that look “dead” when not lit. Hot Toys should include painted versions of things like Vader’s chest box and 3PO’s eyes. Some parts don’t look great when the lights are off.

With that power pack on the shelf it looks like Vader just ripped of someone’s car stereo.
You're right. lol

I just left them there until amazon delivers my usb c cables. I am not one for displaying pieces with their light up features activated, but I am going to give this one and Obiwan a try.

Anyone try using a USB back up Battery, the ones pretty much made for phone charging? I have like 5 or so of the pretty big ones, and they all have dual USB inputs for dual charging. Was figuring I'd lay one down on the shelf behind the stand to power Vader and the stand, so you wouldn't really see it. Plus they're black anyway and wouldn't be too noticeable. I have no way to actually run any cables into the the display cabinets I have.

I have a couple of those used for various statues and figures. They each have three USB inputs. I have my shelves covered so they're not see through and I attached them to the bottom so you don't see them. They work, but it's not my final solution so to speak.

Two questions:

1. Since the electronics on this run via wired power, and not battery, is it okay to leave the lights on for extended periods of time, if not indefinitely? What would the downsides be?

2. Does anyone have any pictures of the figure totally in the dark with only the electronics on, including the light up display base? Any review I’ve seen that has that base turned on still has other lights on around it, so the effect isn’t clear.

Thanks!

They are led so it should be minimal heat and power

Eventually any bulb will burn out and I imagine replacing these would be extremely difficult so I definitely would not leave these on indefinitely.

I’m on the wait list on sideshow. What are the chances I can still get one from them?

It’s a crap shoot. I’ve had wait lists convert right away and others that never did. But in my experience your chances are better earlier (now, in this case).
Yes I would think your waitlist should convert, especially since this was just released. In fact many U.S. retailers haven't received it yet. Sideshow usually is the last place to have figures available the longest. It's usually my go to when the other places are out of stock. But lately Sideshow has been going waitlisted before other sites for some reason. This, Black Adam, and the AOTC Anakin to name a recent few. On the other hand, Avengers Endgame figures are still available.

I’ve always felt that way. Every Iron Man looks like he shut off. I’d rather do without the added expense of the light up feature and have things painted or otherwise presented as being ‘on.’ The light up feature is a quick moment to show off the figure or take a few photos but it’s not usually going to be the default setting for the majority. Maybe these new usb wires will change that?

I hate most light up features and I don’t use any on my IM figures. This figure has day glow yellowish paper cut and placed on the eyes and reactor. I much prefer it over the shut off look.

Yeah, I wonder how long the bulb will last before burning out for good. Supposedly LED bulbs do last quite a while but will get dimmer as they age before burning out.

Here is my figure in total darkness (minus the light up display stand. Sorry)

Thanks for the review! Wanted to let you know, your light-up feature probably isn’t broken: the control box has two “on” settings - one of which doesn’t light up the chest - so that a person can just flip the switch in the other direction when they’re using the battle-damaged chest plate.

You guys are really making me regret trimming this from my pre-order list ages ago.....
I dont even [overly] like Star Wars... why am I drawn to this figure.
Because it’s cool and cool people like cool things.
This might be the best Vader figure we’ll ever get.

I’ll just be seeing a nice representation of Darth Vader, cinematic icon.
Glad I pre-ordered this before it got waitlisted, looks like the perfect Vader in my eyes and I will be displaying it with the normal helmet though I'll likely end up switching back and forth with the Anakin head.
i caved.. Deluxe Vader nice.
I HATE these pics and videos and reviews trying to make me buy a figure that I dont need, wont fit my collection [having sold my delue Mando] and I cant find for a decent price anywhere......

BUT WE WANTS IT SO BAD......
The Lord Of The Rings GIF

GODDAMNIT I CAVED.
Yeah, this figure looks way too good, I love villains too much and Vader is so much of an icon that I couldn't resist it.
The cracked helmet is such a visually interesting feature that demonstrates the evil and scarred man beneath the outer stoic shell of black metal armor, its a really cool facet that demonstrates more of the character.
I love the swap out options letting you decide between damaged and pristine and I think the figure has been made to a really high standard.

I hate myself and now I'm probably going to cancel something to afford it, but honestly its just too cool looking a figure to ignore.

I grabbed a spare ANH codpiece from eBay in case this one is glaringly....endowed in person.

Everything else though looks primo, like a reward for not jumping on any Vaders which preceded this.
Bought a ANH cod piece off of Ebay as well to swap out. Excited for this one.
So you guys are the ones who bought the two I had on my watchlist! :angryfist:

:lol
Oddly enough I have a ANH Vader codpiece that came with some other figure lot I bought aaaaaaaaaaaaages ago - looks like I might finally have a chance to use it!

How did you attach it? Regular scotch tape? I would do somethin similar but I'm afraid of sticky residue/paint peeling off if for some reason the tape would fall off.

Also, where did you buy that kind of paper? Just regular paper store?
