I'm still cracking up over who's got the "First Look" for this movie. Is there anyone on the planet who hears the words "The Crow" and thinks Vanity Fair????

Not that I haven't seen a lot of weak writing over the past decade or so (at least) but I don't think the real problem is the writers, it's risk-averse execs and accountants along with a complacent mass audience.

Really too bad... I thought the casting choice was very good.
As much as I like the original Crow film, it was not a particularly good comic adaptation, as it was really very different from the book.

It might also be that I suppose. If there were more original ideas around, maybe it'd cure the complacency a bit. Sometimes too much faith is placed on movie grosses. That accounts for tickets sold, it doesn't account for anyone who thought the movie sucked and walked out before it had finished.
