This pic shows how 3PO's sheen looks in some of ROTJ: Cheeto-3PO? :lol

Yeah, even back in 1983 I remember instantly noticing that 3-PO lost all his shine. Almost looked like gold paint instead of chrome. I understand that Hot Toys is trying to replicate that look but the speckling just doesnt do it for me. Still getting him so I hope that at a normal viewing distances its not as in your face as some of these close up images make it look?

Worst case scenario, I'm sure it's not that hard to knock some of the weathering back. But a lot of the photos are very high-resolution close-ups that don't replicate the shelf. More of these need to get in-hand. Only then we panic.:panic:

Yeah I never cared for how he looked in either ESB or ROTJ. They dulled him down so much and made him almost an orange color .

So what are the chances we will see an ROTJ specific R2-D2 to go along with this guy? Just the pop up lightsaber would probably justify a new release. I would hope they did the serving tray setup myself.

well both the Deluxe MMS511 and the AOTC version have the ability to house Luke's lightsaber. The MMS511 version even came with uke's ROTJ Lightsaber as one if it's accessories. Though, it would be nice if they use the hilt from the ROTJ Emperor that was more accurate when unlit. The serving tray would be the main accessory for an ROTJ R2D2.

My hope is R2 follows in C-3P0s footsteps and gets a ROTJ next. Thats the R2 I want in my collection.

Didn't they make that one already -- the R2 that covers all the OT films? the MMS511 deluxe R2...

The only thing missing was Jabba's serving tray

You only see the tray for a split second before 3PO knocks it off him leaving only the serving arm on his dome. Still a great accessory to have if they make another R2.

I don't know how some people do it: display all the variants like Hasbro figures -- R2 clean, R2 dirty, R2 with tray, R2 with arm extended, R2 with periscope, on and on... and then Luke Farmboy, Luke camo, Luke Jedi, Luke pilot, on and on, and then Leia princess, Leia Hoth, Leia Bespin, on and on, and then...

It's insane.

I just reaquired the SS R2 last week to go with the ROTJ 3PO. I wanted a sail barge display with him using the tray. I was hoping HT would’ve announced one but oh well. He’ll do for now.

I agree. I have exceptions here and there of course as I'm sure many do, but for the most part, I just can't collect every version of a character anymore.

I used to be of the mind having this set of figures for one kind of display and another set for to represent something else but I don't have the display space nor storage space for that. It almost becomes like Iron Man collecting. How different are they really? I sort of feel dumb for having 2 Iron Man figures as it is as well as having 2 Vaders on order when I already have a modded ANH version that I really like.
