I... have no idea what that implies, other than I'm a big Star Trek fan, have been waiting FOREVER for 1/6 Star Trek after YEARS of seeing Star Wars get all the love from Hot Toys, and want to support this endeavor in any way that I can?

Ha ha... I guess? But as an outsider (as you so... eloquently noted), yeah, this board is pretty damn negative and toxic. I can see why the Exo-6 guys don't bother to post here. I want Exo-6 to be successful, and I don't expect Hot Toys-level head sculpts out of a 2-year old company. I'll take pretty good Star Trek over no Star Trek for another 10 years, thanks...
While there is a lot of toxicity around here I wouldn’t necessarily classify the board as being overall toxic…just a few toxic folks who spout toxicity because they have an irrational obsession with the founder of EXO-6, mixed in with some otherwise good discussion.
That aside I couldn’t agree more with your post and overall sentiment!

In my opinion, the Collector Freaks board is and has been one of the best forums in general, in both conversations and members, that I have come across over the years. As others have already pointed out, this forum is truly one of the special ones. As you can tell from my join date, if this forum was "toxic" (oh, how I hate that word...) then I wouldn't still be hanging out here. Truth be told, any troublemakers are quickly dealt with by the moderators.

As for the Star Trek sub-forum specifically, it pretty much is made up of the same passionate Star Trek fans as you but who have voiced both praise and concerns regarding the products being offered by EXO-6. If there is one thing to immediately realize with this forum, it is that we are honest with our opinions. The so called "EXO-6 guys" that you mentioned that don't bother posting here are instead providing the founder of EXO-6 with constant accolades while ignoring true and deserving concerns with some of the products. To say otherwise is to be disingenuous at best, pathetic at worse. Posts that may seem or come across as possibly negative towards the EXO-6 founder are because while the posters are quite thankful for the products being provided, the hero worship is considerably less here. I don't know if you have kept up with the posts for the last couple of years but that same founder has directed derogatory comments towards this community specifically, either through a lack in understanding the subtleties of language or because some honest product concerns have been brought into the conversations and they are not appreciated or worse, tolerated.

Heavy Metal Spike's spidey senses were tingling, as I'm sure other's were too, in seeing that you have been a member since 2009 and have only posted "18" times, mostly in the Star Trek forum. You appeared, for all intents and purposes, to be one of those "EXO-6 guys" that you yourself brought up. To be honest, I think we do have some of those guys posting here as well, which is also fine, but glossing over or ignoring honest concerns just won't fly here.

I sincerely welcome you to the forum and as a fellow passionate "Trekkie" (or is that Trekker?...) please don't take any posts too personal and do feel free to share both the good and not so good in our hobby. That's what forums were made for.

You're close bud - my "spidey senses" were actually alerting me to the possibility that this poster was yet ANOTHER of Nanjin's "sock puppet" accounts.

The staff have allowed the account to stay so they may have checked IP addresses to verify that is not the case.

Hope the dude is genuine, and was just (until recently) a lurker . . . in which case - please post more :)

Classy post as always Fly, and Heavy Metal Spike is one of the nicest guys here.

Quite frankly anyone thinking this place is toxic needs to get a thicker skin, it’s a tough world out there and this is rather civil, look through the constructive discussions and judge for yourself.

The money is on its way my friend - delivered in a plain brown paper bag as always . . . just use the secret handshake while singing the 1st verse of "We are family" and they will hand it over ;)

Nanjin is clearly getting a ton of backlash about kira, he can't go a day without writing a novel about how he doesn't understand the difference between 1/6 figures and miniature prop replicas. Uh oh need to catch myself, don't want to be ToXiC...

Yeah I've been on here quite a while too, and while there are occassionally people with bad attitudes or discussions that get overly heated and political, I still find it a more friendly place than some of those FB groups. And I'd rather hang out where people feel free to speak their mind anyway, even if I might disagree or find those opinions idiotic. Lol

Hear! Hear! :duff

I think Kira is a pretty nice effort from EXO. We'll be able to judge that better when the in-hand photos start coming in and putting the official promo shots to shame. And I'll preface this by freely admitting that I have no experience at all in deciding how to represent 1:1 fabric detail in 1:6 other than collecting the Hell out of it...... but there just HAS to be a better way to translate those woven in sleeve/shoulder patterns on her uniform better than what we've seen in the official photos. Screen printing, lighter thread color, something! ANYTHING!

At this point I think the issue may simply be that the EXO production team is just too far down the road in designing this uniform that to retool and start from scratch would just be too costly and time consuming. So rather than admit that, we get all of the now all too familiar "don't trust your lying eyes" and "experts know nothing, we are the keepers of the only truth" deflections everywhere EXO posts.

All that said, my hope is that even that detail may look better in hand, and even if it doesn't, I'd obviously rather have a typical top-notch EXO figure of Kira by a company that loves Trek, than no Kira at all. So I'll find a way to be happy if the head sculpt holds up which I think it likely will 😇.

He did say they might try to tweak things a little more with Kira's outfit, but I'm not going to get my hopes up about it.
His "tweaks" literally consist of changing flesh tones on a headsculpt, nothing else. The majority of these figures and headsculpts have been done way in advance, like that goofy riker sculpt shown in that tested video. That head will never change ever, he gets these things sculpted once and then approved. If it fails approval then he hires an even cheaper sculptor to redo it and we get head sculpts like archer.

I told nanjin back before seven came out, that the sculpted hair on it looked ridiculous that it was too high and big, grabbed a quick promo shot of her head from Google to show what I was talking about. Nanjin proceeded to spend the next several hours making fun of me and cursing me out for using a promotional picture off Google and not a set or screen grab from the actual show, telling me I knew nothing about anything when it came to star trek. This is the guy who hires sculptors he won't name aside from dabbs, who all literally take the first promo picture off Google and make the heads using those pictures (biggest offender Janeway). Then to top off seven he had his painters paint sevens hair gold...

Appreciate it. I'm just here for a fun Trek ride!

I think she looks just fine. I'm all in, can't wait to get Kira on the shelf with Sisko and Odo, and Quark and Garak and Julian and Miles and Jadzia and the rest!
I... have no idea what that implies, other than I'm a big Star Trek fan, have been waiting FOREVER for 1/6 Star Trek after YEARS of seeing Star Wars get all the love from Hot Toys, and want to support this endeavor in any way that I can?

FWIW this old timer feels the same way, though I can still mod my figures (although I need reading glasses to do so these days) so can/will do tweaks if needed. Then again I may not. I'll decide when she's in hand. I happily preordered Kira as soon as I got the BBTS email she was available. The figures Exo-6 has released so far are the best Trek figures we've gotten to date. Since DS9 is my favorite "modern" Trek with Voyager a close second, it was a no-brainer. I didn't hesitate to plunk down my deposit.

The contemporary Treks (Disco, Picard, SNW) and the Exo-6 Star Trek figures (from all lines except the movies, so far - I doubt TWOK or Kelvin will tempt me which at least will be good for my budget) have brought me out of the sixth-scale "Dark Ages" I fell in a few years ago. I'm going to enjoy this while it lasts.

He does enjoy flaming people and chimes in when his followers swarm them.
its definitely a favorite past time of his, except when hes making pity posts to gain sympathy from the people who are already worshipping him. He recently blocked me for making his head implode when i brought up hans coat from empire strikes back, i asked him to explain to me how im supposed to turn a brown coat to blue using shelf lighting. He will never admit hes wrong because he'll have to concede that hes screwed up multiple figures

If this is the showing for Vegas, consider me disappointed. I was expecting some TOS and KTL reveals finally. He's been teasing Pine and Quinto for bloody years.

Kelvin figures should only be made after the figure of the most obscure alien from Star Trek Prodigy is released…I’m buying anything that EXO-6 releases, but I’d be fine if they skipped KTL all-together, and I really love those movies.
