Do we really need a military forum any more?

Without this, military/historical section of the board, I would not visit the site at all. I could not be bothered to wade through all the other stuff about Star Wars, LOTR or zombies etc. sorry, just not my thing. Old Bill

    NO military/historical figures from SideShow

SS must know how much their military figures go for on e-bay and see that there is still huge interest. Being interested in the 'Bayonets' series of Great War figures, it is interesting to see how quickly the German infantryman, Aussie Lighthorse and U.S Officer sold out. Hobbyists are now...

I think DiD is my favorite company for 1:6 scale figures!

Tony Barton, the MASTER, is still very much active in the 1/6 field. Have a look at the ONE SIXTH SCALE UK website. He has just completed a WW2 British tanker but look for his 'tutorials', everything from neadsculpts to hat badges. Old Bill

Sideshow Distributing Hot Toys SOCOM Commander

Being a Great War collector, I'm not worried about this piece. However there are plenty of fans of this type of model. Hopefully Hot Toys will stay away from the 'German' figures and continue marketing 'guys' like this or better still cover other periods of military history. Old Bill

    Dragon "dolls"

Sidecollector, So which of the two, SS or Dragon Gen. Lee's would you recommend as the both appear to be superior ? I hope one of the companies puts out a Grant for you soon. However, they appear to be more interested in Germans and TV/Movie tie in's to devote time to 'heritage' or military...

    Dragon "dolls"

Gents, I find that, generally, Dragon (DML) figures tend to be slightly smaller in stature than SST. However the uniforms are highly interchangable. I have 'bashed' Great War figures using DML and SST kit and other companies. As SST seem to have lost interest, in their wonderful 'Bayonets...'...

    John Wayne Green beret

Gents, Just been reading a British 1/6 scale model site, found a posting that says SST are to issue a John Wayne 'Green Beret' figure. https://www.gijoeelite.com/f_itemPart.asp?strPart=GIST-3406 Anyone got any news on this ?. Old Bill

    Legendary Musicians

In the dim and distant past, I remember watching all of the psychobilly bands, in their early days at a small, badly lit, smokey, cheap beer filled Feltham Football Club, in west London. Also got to see many British and a few US Rockabillies.......... oooo for my lost youth. Old Bill I used...

    Legendary Musicians

Guys having started this thread with a simple question, we seem to have moved on. Punk country - look out for a band called Jason and the Scorchers. Rockabilly - have been listening to this since mid 1970's - Elvis SUN recordings, the uptempo tracks, are without doubt 'the best' RAB you could...

    Legendary Musicians

Being an old duffer. Is Elvis not enough of a legend to start the series ?. With all those fans around the world, this figure would sell many, many units. Provided Lisa Marie and her mum are happy. Please stick him in the 1968 leather outfit or the GI Blues uniform. For younger members, ask...

    Legendary Musicians

Noticed the Kiss sticker on the amp. Wondered if this was just a little tease. However, I suppose they are as legendary as any. Is Gene Simmons as big a legend as Elvis ?. If my ancient memory serves KISS were/are a group. Old Bill

    Legendary Musicians

Any news on the musicians to be made into 1/6 icons ?. Presley, Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, Mozart, guy who wrote 1812 overture, Sinatra to name but a few. This has the potential to run and run. Old Bill

Two New R. Lee Ermey figures announced!

I agree with Doomhammer, why do SS need to reissue figures ?. The new Ermey uniform could have been issued as a 'carded piece'. I have to say I have no idea who Lee Ermey is ?. His fame dosen't stretch to this side of the Atlantic. A NEW figure from any of the military series would be a...

    LotR 1/6 Horses?

The Bayonet and Barbed Wire collectors would be delighted to see SST produce horses. Opens up a whole new area of potential kitbashes. We have an Aussie 'Light Horseman', who is fed up with all the walking. Old Bill
