Have to agree with you. I'm hopeful this is gonna kick some ass when it's displayed. I have one of the Sideshow Weta Cave Trolls which has an awesome paint job and it's over 10 years old so I think they can do it.

I got one last year after buying the Knifehead which was superb. Slattern is an amazing sculpt but out of the box it's a flat and muddy paint job which is maybe fine for some people who don't scrutinise it up close. There's no nice finishing in areas you would expect like the face. After tax...

I've been wrong before with Sideshow :wink1: ....and $800 is a big number. I wonder if having to pay the licensee i.e Legendary Pictures inflates the price to the point where they just can't sell it at a reasonable price.

In your dreams! The sculpting is far more nuanced and crafted on Sideshows maquette compared to the X-Plus which doesn't hold a candle to it IMO. It's the paint that concerns me alot more because it doesn't make a superb sculpt pop the way it should. Incidentally the hard top light in that photo...

Totally agree. The maquette is what I'm paying for ..as far as I'm concerned the box is just there to protect it.

Yeah, my $80 deposit feels like a huge leap of faith at this point. $800 should buy an epic statue :)
