I had no idea the ANH version was considered sub-par.
I like the look of this one, but I'm not a fan of the black mouth, I always liked the teeth better.

I'm sure there are inaccuracies that I'm not aware of, but I really like the HT ANH stormies.

I love my HT ANH Stormtroopers. They are still some of my favorite HT figures *ever*.

Yep, I love this look. To my eye it is the most aesthetic looking of the lot. Rogue One didn't look right to me. The ANH troopers I have are OK, but this looks most like the Sandtrooper who is my favourite look bar none.

We know Hot Toys sometimes like to take artistic licence on some small design points. Looks like this is what happened here. Unlike JKNO, I didn't like the original proto mouth look.

So I think I'll get one for the main display, and use the original ANH troopers for a separate display with ANH Vader (and Rogue One Vader gloves) in Joost's Tantive IV hallway.

The Rogue One troopers were redesigned to be more friendly to the actors wearing them. They have larger eyes (so they can actually see) and a significantly more narrow chest piece (for better arm movement), and the result is a suit that just doesn't look quite right.

One deluxe from BBTS and one regular from Sideshow for me. Might order a few more regulars as we get closer to release; I have Han and Luke troopers, RO and Space troopers but can always use more Stormies.

I wonder if there’s a way to remove the weathering without damaging the finish? I’m sure someone here or on another 1:6 forum could help.
I'd be way too scared to mess with a figure like that haha

Well, if you look at actual stills, promo, and behind the scenes photos you'll see all stormtrooper's armor is weathered and beat up. In all three OT films. Granted it's mostly wear, tear, and scuffs from the rigors of filming. But perfectly clean and shiny they most certainly are not.

I recently built a bandai 1/12 stormtrooper that replicated the "shiny ANH" look with screen accurate weathering. Up close you can see how rough and "used" the armor is, but from even just a foot or two away he looks all shiny and new and the weathering blends in to almost be unnoticeable. I'm sure this will be similar. Up close you'll see it clearly. On the shelf from a few feet away he'll look crisp and shiny.
Hmm...I guess I could convince myself this way

While the completist in me will want to pick up a deluxe version, the ROTJ trooper just isn't my favorite look. Is no one else bothered by the rounded lip going around the edges of the chest, waist and pelvic armor?

It's not my favourite look either. I'm ANH only for Stormtroopers although this figure looks well detailed.

Looking forward to an eventual HT Biker Scout though. Fingers crossed it happens soon.

Yep, they just never get old. As iconic as you can get.

Any Star Wars collector without a Stormtrooper, isn't a Star Wars collector.

Yes..just like Darth Vader, Stormtrooper is StarWars itself, no bull***

I just need Death Star Trooper with the console up for PO then could say Im done with OT troopers (but if Hot Toys ever make Scout trooper with the bike I'll bite too)..and lay low for the Clones.

I too am waiting for a HT Biker Scout.

Disappointed that they chose to resculpt the helmet. The proto looked a decent effort at the ROTJ look, now it looks like a strange type of hybrid. I’ll still be ordering a regular though.

So am I.

They will get to it at some point.
Hopefully soon.

Yep, totally agree. Just a question of time.

Then I'll need to decide if he is better than the Sideshow version (Which in my opinion is pretty good). Especially the stand. Those extra wood pieces etc is how Side-show used to roll. These days it's high prices and very basic stands.
