I hope folks don’t go after this now as a “rare” figure.....I don’t want work where I know they ripped of the artist....especially someone as wonderful as KA...

Honestly, do you wanna own something where you know the artist is being ripped off?
Not a good standard for our hobby....

And I know Lennon wouldn’t approve..

There is no way that I would want this Lennon sitting on my shelf after what they did to these artists. Would never be able to enjoy looking at it. What a shame.

So if he did not use K A KIM sculpt , and was 3D printed, how do all you collects feel about dropping $300+ on a scanned copy and not a direct copy of an artist designed sculpt?

Unfortunately, this is the way of the future. 3D sculpting will replace wax soon. They can change things around much quicker and its cheaper......

I think that's missing the point. Everything we buy is a copy of the artist's original. The point is that for Vijay Chadha to say it's no longer her work just because he scanned it is BS. Does Hot Toys say it's no longer a sculpt by Kojun just because they tooled a metal mold of the original? Of course not.

This whole thing reminds me of Andgor Toys, back in the day. That guy didn't pay his sculptors, didn't deliver on his orders, and for years people who got burned associated the sculptors with the ripoff, thinking they were part of the company. That guy also used pictures of sculpts as an online selling tool, when the sculptors hadn't even been paid.

We will expose another case of "cheating" , fraud and immoral behaviour towards our company ACI Toys by Chronicle Collectibles which attending current New York Comic Con, 2 years ago. This bad things and business almost ruined ACI during these 2 years, making our company in very bad condition and directly causing all the delay of our current release.

Dear customers, please don't get it wrong that we are going to use this an excuse for all delays. But it really hurts ACI. We thought this might not be accepted by our customers via exposing the problem because most would think that it's just business conflicts, etc. There's nothing related to our delays. However, it's really the main reason in causing such "chain reaction" on our own product release.

Thank you KA Kim and other Artists being so brave and strong to stand out and speak. We could not tolerate these kinds of frauds in the industry. It's really destructive towards all professionals working hard and morally for the market. These bad things have to be stopped! And these scammers have to pay for what they did!

Well, it seems we will discover a lot of interesting stories in the industry.

It sounded like he said that he had little changes made to the original sculpt, like the hair being slightly different, which in his mind lets him off the hook for payment.

Vijay clearly knew what he was doing -- let the artist do the heavy lifting by creating the base sculpt for the minimal amount of money, then when the sculpt requires nominal tweaking that anyone can do, cut the artist off, refuse to pay the remainder of the money, and end communication.

This is a very old trick.

Just a screwed up situation, the 1/6 community attracts a lot of scammers, particularly in customs.

Vijay was probably a member on SSF (or is currently a member). I have a feeling he was part of the customs section and was probably inspired by the ripoffs there.

A lot of decent people posting here today. Every time someone says that they wouldn't be able to enjoy owning this because of what happened to the artists I feel really proud of the community.

How cool would it be if HT bought the sculpt and released it under their M Icon line? I mean she has done work for HT before...I'd hate to see it unreleased.

I've always called M8 a fraud- they delivered a subpar figure at the cost of others hard work. What can you say good about them? From the start they were screaming how amazing they were- they are scammers and I for one am glad I cancelled my PO many months ago

Unfortunately KA Kim works in physical media and not digital sculpts, so Vijay has her only copies of them. She'd have to start over from scratch

It’s a bummer we’ll never get those Bowies but at least we saw the picture. Hopefully someday an equal or better sculpt will be released.

She could, but she mentioned how much mental pain this caused her. Don't think she'd be interested in remaking something that has caused her such stress.

The dude does not abide.
There can be no reason to be this $h*tty to the artists and if they treat one of the best sculptors in the business like this then what will they do to all the others?
I’d be shocked if others would be willing to work with them now given how they have welched on agreed fees and manipulated headsculpts to mean they don’t have to pay the artists etc
