It doesn’t bother me that he’s short.

I actually think a lot of the statues are made a lot bigger than what they “need” to be due to overly large, elaborate bases.

From what I understand, SSC changed their policy recently where they will give back your reward points if you cancel your order. Only the NRD is not refunded. The only time the NRD is refunded is if your order is delayed.

If it’s your first time cancelling you can get both your NRD and rewards points back.

SS could have easily fudged the scale a little to produce a piece who size was more impressive and commensurate with the price they were planning to charge for it.

But then I don't know. Are fans vocally upset with SS for fudging the scale of Juggernaut downward to better fit into their Ikea shelving?

There are only hard and fast rules until SS chooses to break them for some reason or other.

Given his pose, he would likely be out in front of any group collection display. He could have easily been scaled "up" to 17" and still looked just fine next to all the other characters who, in almost every single instance, would be posed standing straight up on a base and would therefore look appropriately taller anyway.

Then it wouldn’t be in scale with the rest of the line if Sideshow did that

You are speaking in terms of what you want. You don't speak for, or know what others want.

Yes, as that's all I can do.

There have already been two 1/4 scale Wolverine PFs released. The people that need this to be perfectly in scale with their other statues have already had that option...twice.

But you like this one better than those? Can't blame you. So do I.

That's right. Just like the upcoming Juggernaut will be out of scale. They get around that by calling it a maquette. Could have done the same here.
Would that really have prevented any collector/fan here from buying him and sticking him in their display?

Besides, unless they are displayed in a strict row, you could easily rationalize a slight increase in his size over the others due to foreshortening.

Given enough desire, collectors can usually rationalize most anything the product maker imposes on them.

For example, I'm rationalizing this is worth $600 because I like the design and the sculpt, and because I don't own any other Wolverine anythings.
And yeah, I would rather overpay for something I truly think is well done and small, than large for the sake of trying to express value.
Eventually the $600 will be a sunk cost. Years down the road it won't matter, but how well it expresses the character will.

Unless it starts to develop engineering/lean issues. Then the thought of that inflated price is really going to chafe.

Hell Mose, if you want a large sized Wolverine statue, pick up the LSF. Maybe they'll make a MAQ one day. However, so long as they are making PFs, I want them in 1/4 scale. Hopefully when you get this new PF you'll be blown away with how good it looks and not even give the scale a second thought.

I get that you want a bigger piece, but this is quarter scale, and given that I want a quarter scale wolverine that looks as good as this, I am happy it is to scale.

Sideshow have had other premium formats that are out of scale, such as Batman. You can get away with it to a certain extent by putting him at the back of a display, however I am glad that sideshow is now paying more attention to realism and scale in their new products. I don't like all of the designs but I still appreciate the talented sculptors and am grateful that 1/4 means 1/4

:( I had one, but it went back because of QC issues and I was too leery of rolling the dice again and getting one with more or different issues.

If I'm hung up on wanting something larger with this character, it's because of the LSF. The short time I had it, it was game changing. Literally breath-taking to be in it's presence. Coming back to the realm of 1/4 scale pieces was something of a let down.

There a few things that look to be better executed on the PF, but you can't overstate the impact that sheer size makes.

To each his own, but I’ve seen the LSF up close and was totally unimpressed, especially since it is a Martin Canale sculpt. The fabric makes the anatomy details nonexistent, the facial details simple and bland, for myself, truly disappointing and grossly overpriced, size and all.

This new Astonishing SS sculpt is on a whole other level, possibly being the best Wolverine rendition ever released, in any scale, ever. The pose, the anatomy, the hyper sculptural details, the outstanding portraits, the magnificent base, all scream Wolverine. If the paint and QC are sound, this will be a keeper for the ages. If this new PF was blown-up to LSF scale, it would make the LSF look like a cheap toy. Simply no contest, on any level,....................except size.

Yeah, that Wolvie LSF was plagued by QC issues. It's a great looking sculpt but I didn't like the cloth on it. I'm much more of a fully sculpted fan. That said, there was a brown custom conversion by a member here. I believe it was ComputerFly that did the custom work. It was converted into a fully sculpted piece in his brown costume. That custom piece floored me when I saw pics of it. It's quite possibly the most impressive Wolverine statue I've ever seen. Hopefully, there's a company out there that can give you what you want. With Wolverine's popularity, it's just a matter of time until we see another statue of the character.

Perhaps get one of the 5 billion Wolverine customs that are out there if you don't like this one...

I totally agree. Of all the Wolverine statues released over the many years, I have yet to see any that are better represented than this SS masterpiece, in any scale. Of course I could be wrong, so if any know of statues that can actually compare or rival this one, by all means post the pics.

The base reminds me of the xm wolverine base.

Considering that both are parts of a Sentinel that would make sense.

But imho this hand is more to my liking than the XMs head version. Though I would've liked for that central red part to light up either continuously or flicker etc., but at least this way you don't need to concern yourself about when the led will eventually burn out etc.

I agree xm was the best imo for all wolverines so far. All the rest had a strange distorted face or mouth. But this new ss one is very well done. The best so far. For his scale this should’ve been a bit less though.

I don't really mind the price as his scale is pretty much correct. And that base is a beauty, and is quite deep in dimensions and detailed.

But with it in hand I can say that it's really the pose alone that makes it seem small, and no where is it anything less than a 1/4 scale.

And even though it's the pose that is making it shorter than normal, I actually really like the more action oriented position of the figure, and because of that I much prefer it over Sideshows previous brown version.

However I plan to display this with Sideshow's Dark Phoenix, but in order to do that I'll have to put Wolverine on a raiser of at least 10cm/4inches.... and he'll still be at a lower head position, but I think it'll still look good.
