i might try to soak the robe this weekend..i really like to put jedi hood over Anakin head for display

I soaked both Anakin and Obi Wans robes as well. Cold water with dish soap. WOW. Tons of dye out of both like you guys and gals. Did it a few times and the bowl kept getting dark. Finally I dumped the soapy water and tried cold water with salt and distilled vinegar to hopefully set the dye proper. Robes are currently drying so tomorrow I’ll try again with soap to see if more comes out. Little ridiculous how much excess dye there is.
You think? :lol

These aren’t spare parts for custom figures, which sometimes comes with the territory. These are mass produced. There’s kind of a precedent of quality, within the industry, that’s been set by Hot Toys and they’re dropping the ball left and right. Smaller companies are catching up to them and one so far has shown them up in the pleather department.

Get your **** together Hot Toys.

I would laugh the ** out of my @ss if the next Emperor has similar bleeding issue with the robe :rotfl

Apparently, the robe can stain through plastic. Notice the wire as well. Contacting SS now.

Probably the figures got those stains from the moment they attached all the parts together before sealing parts in plastic and putting them inside the box or something. THe right arm could have those stains as well if it wasnt gloved i'd imagine.

Looks great drjedisith- now, that is the cloak that came with the figure, yes?

dammit-will bbts EVER get this figure?

Is there another dock strike we haven't heard about going on?

I don't think SS have even been able to ship out all their own PO's yet. This one seems to have been made in small batches for some reason.

Ht did release this Anakin in at least two batches about 2 months apart. I ordered back in february from a HK based seller (loontentoys) and only received mine today.

i think it looks the exact same. i think water disperses the dye to make it look like a ton. if you put one drop of food coloring in a bowl of water it would change the color. it wouldnt have to be the whole bottle. i think theres enough residue to stain and soaking that residue makes it look like alot.

Got mine eventually today, stain on the left hand UNDERNEATH the plastic covering. Does anyone know how to remove the staining? I do not want to send this back.

Seems like a lot have this, I'm not really going to ever use the left fist closed hand affected so does it matter that much?

You got lucky being part of the first batch. Also depends on what seller you got it from. When did you order? For my part, i ordered late february, hours after the first video review from a HK website.

Same issue. I contacted SS.
Sure, I won't use the fist but its the point of what we pay, it should be all good in the first place.

We’ve hounded them for years, on and off, about some of the cloth in their releases not being properly treated before it gets to our shelves. They still refuse to follow a protocol in the early manufacturing process that removes excess dye from the fabric... before it’s ever cut to pattern specifications.

They’re simply lazy at this point. They expect us to just deal with it and sort it out in our own way and if half of us have to contact retailers for replacements... so be it, I guess. It’s a presumably **** attitude to have when we are paying the kind of money these things cost. Isn’t it common sense, in any fabric industry, that when a material is dyed... it kinda needs the excess removed as much as possible and should then be potentially “set”?

It does . Its a small thing to some but it shouldn't be like that. If anyone has a good hand they aren't planning to use I'll gladly make use of it.

Got my Anakin today. Stripped down the whole figure and applied the water treatment on each and every piece of textile before setting Anakin up again.

Also, left the robe in cold soapy water for an hour. Surprisingly, didn't notice dye residue. No water coloration either.

Finally, tried stretching the robe a bit but could't obtain a satisfactory result. I guess i'll have to settle for robe less displays or find some custom made verson on the web.
