I missed getting into this line from the ground floor and simply refuse to pay secondary market prices so I'm forced to pass on the line. But I would have definitely picked up Snow, The Hound and Tyrion. The others I'm just not convinced about.

I'd wager to say that Ned and Jamie and even Dany edges out Snow by a mile. He may be the worst. Luckily he's salvageable with some secondary market replacement items. But to get him to pass in my book I needed to replace:

The head - currently using a vimal sculpt painted by me
the boots - they are huge snd badly sculpted Used DID boots with customized side lace ups by me
the hands - they are huge and badly sculpted using Sideshow Naboo Darth Maul gloves, I've seen guys offer recasted versions of the 3Z but the sculpt sucks so thats the base problem
The sword - Sculpt is OK actually, but its hard to argue that a genuine metal one is not highly improved for the overall quality boost
The body - He was far to big for Kit and the clothing are too bulky which means a smaller body is even more nessisary. I think I used one of those bruce lee knock off bodies or maybe a BW Carlito. Whatever I used had further mods, dremeling or swaps. just endless stuff
The belt - It's a HUGE HUGE Eyesore. The rubber belts passes on Ned just barely, and for some reason they actually gave Tyrion a leather one like they should. Raveneye offered this and it's beautiful but he's taken long breaks within intervals and he's done with them now

Bottom line is if you are a huge fan it sucks as we have no other option in town but as far as 1/6 standard go this company is bottom of the barrel so absolutely paying a penny over retail price would be a huge deal breaker for me also.

Can anyone advise on the body swap? The cape looks easy enough to remove, and if anyone has any tips the rest of the way it’d be appreciated.

I haven't made any mods to him yet. I have the Vimal sculpt, but need to find some time for working on it, or deciding to hire someone to paint/hair it. As for the rest, I'm far from Raymond or Lee needs. I'm content with the stock figure, and all I might be interested in doing, and I'm in no rush for it, is replacing the boots and gloves. The belt is well sculpted, and the body and outfit are good enough. I can understand people wanting to upgrade all these bits, but you could do the same with almost every figure in the market, and spending 1K per figure is totally out my budget.

Well not all figures are as off as Jon Snow here. You can spend 220-300 USD on most hot toys figures which are often perfect or nearly perfect. Also The Hound is almost spot on except the hair and face paint is weak.

Yeah, but all I'm saying is that a Vimal sculpt or a repainted stock headsculpt, rehaired, you name it, is enough to my eyes to put Jon at least at the same level as other figures of the line.

You are right and even the boots and hands can be replaced with cheap normal sized alternatives that look better than the stock ones (there are many black leather boots on ebay). I did that initially but have been slowing upgrading my Jon further since I really love the character. Currently have a hydeous head in the works and got a Raveneye belt. Also have plans to make my own cape with real fur.

Hydeous work is amazing, and the Raveneye belt is beautiful too. I'm sure your Jon will look incredible when finished. For me, I think it will be enough with Vimal sculpt.

Raymond is right. Outside of the swapped body, I had to do ALL these mods to make Snow worth it.

He has subsequently become one of the most expensive figures in my collection.

:horror I didn't know that the figure was that badly designed. Perhaps I've been seeing too many of the customized versions and they threw me off. Now I'm not so disappointed in missing out. Its a shame, as he, along with Tyrion, are my favorite characters in the series and I would have really liked to have had a good representation of them both in the collection.

Never saw the problem with the gloves and boots.

Jon's gloves and boots are supposed to be big, him and the Night's Watch are barely scrapping by in the series, no time for a nice tailored fit like this

Just for the sake of comparison here's a photo of the bastard next to my Philosopher's Stone's Harry Potter, guess that from some people's perspective Jon's hands should be barely bigger than those of an 11 year old. :dunno

While the gloves are not as bad as the boots they are still a bit oversized, mostly in that they are too thick. You can notice the difference here. In addition the hands can't properly grip the sword or dagger, another indication of large size. Similar goes for the boots although this isn't neccessarily something that bothers everyone, especially since in certain angles its not too noticable.

Fair enough, they certainly aren't a deal breaker even if for some people Jon is on par of Star Ace's "Hermoine" :lol

In regards of variants, they made some for BB so there's still hope.

Holy crap! I don't care if it's costume accurate or not. Please make sure it's posted if it goes up for sale.

Totally agree! I don't care as much about precise scene accuracy with my figures as long as they capture the character. And this sculpt ABSOLUTELY captures the character. Best Snow sculpt I've seen by a wide margin.
