Here are the best pics of dengar I could find with his rilfe:

I have yet to receive my sideshow one....

So, wait, the BTS gun is different than his on-screen gun?!?!?!? I am a tad confused

Yeah, onscreen he uses a modded MG 42 (stock removed and flash hider/front nozzle swapped out for new brushed aluminum part) This is it unmodded:

Whereas the BTS shots he's holding 4-LOM's rifle, the stock MG 34:

What's funny about Dengar's outfit (beyond the obvious repainted Snowie/Stormie armor) is that he's nearly 50% Hoth Rebel Soldier - his pistol, gloves, waist belt/buckle, backpack frame/straps and shoes/puttees/straps.

But then they gave a Leia Hoth vest to Greedo and turned him into Beedo for Jabba's Palace. Hoth gear certainly got around.:lol

Pleasantly surprised with how this figure turned out! Still a few things to nitpick about, but overall it's another nice addition to the Sideshow bounty hunter series!

He looks great, if you ask me. Exactly what I imagine Dengar would look like without trying to compare him next to a screenshot from the film.

I'm pretty happy about the in hand photos Dengar looks pretty good. Mine arrives on Thursday and Zuckuss tomorrow.

I think the one nitpick is his face came out a little bit nicer-looking in the production version, meaning more like a nice dude. He has a kind of softly surprised expression.

Thanks for the gun comparison, Talibane. Nice pics from everyone that has him - thanks. From the look, he looks very decent. Gonna give him some extra padding to make him look a bit bulkier.

Face looks so lifeless to me. Like a cheap toy. I guess i'm just spoiled by HT, humans are Sideshow's weakness.

Wait...you are looking to HT for emotional faces? OMG you cracked me up......

I think overall he looks pretty good! Everything except the face...I don't know. I think they definitely overdid painting the dark crevices and wrinkles. Way too contrasty and lacks any natural subtlety. And the coloring looks a bit too pink, which gives him that "nice guy" look TonTon was talking about. Makes him look rosy-cheeked and jolly!

... or like he has some kind of skin irritation!

Decent figure. Overpriced, as usual with Sideshow, but decent.

Yeah I was thinking about this. What is SS niche in the 1/6 market? In the past I thought it was “you get what you pay for” meaning SS allowed you to purchase 1/6 SW figures at lower prices than the better sculpted , better tailored, higher prices of HT. Today SS SW figures are priced the same as HT (i.e.. Jedi Luke). Now if I had the cash and wanted to purchase Jedi Luke why would I opt for a inferior product when Im spending the same amount of money?

That niche is basically figures that HT are not doing (yet) and suckering in those of us who feel compelled to complete our Bounty Hunter collection. Having just shelled out around $750 for the last three, my wallet is not happy (and my wife went ballistic when the third package showed up in as many days)...

That niche is running out, and therefore they are cashing in on every dollar they can while the going is good. HT are upping their production levels (cant believe Hoth Leia is right around the corner and Tarken is already in hands over seas). With the lack of desired properties from the latest film, everyone is hammering out OT (and soon PT) figures faster than I can realize how much money I just spent or put on pre-order.

All three of these last Bounty Hunters are good figures. Not mind blowing by any stretch but better than some of Sideshow's efforts to say the least. I am glad I got them but not happy about the price. I felt $175 for Fett and IG-88 and I think it was $150 for V.1 Bossk with snarling head exclusive were already stretching my figure budget. At first I was going to pass on these three but after TLJ I realized that there were not going to be any new property figure purchases and decided to finish what I started many years ago which was to get the entire OT BH crew.

I kid myself that once I get Hoth Leia, Tarken. Emperor and his Guard that I will be done but I know that if they showed a kick ass OT Lando right now I would instantly pre-order.

Have to say the speed with which both Leia Hoth and Tarkin arrived, combined with how mind blowing they look shows that they can now turn around the figures in 6 months which is scary. I also think they would be wise to fire out OT stuff as the new Disney stuff will not sell anything like as many units.

I will be pleased to complete the Bounty Hunters in the next month or so when they arrive in the UK but it is clear to see that this Dengar is not as good a figure as the 2 mentioned above.

Dengar- the jolly bounty hunter :)

Do we know sales/ship figures?

It seems SS has been doing limited editions to help with sales of niche items.

HT appears to have open ended runs but without knowing what they produced for the New Trilogy vs the OT what we see could be deceptive. HT/Disney could have over produced new trilogy and under produced OT...

Though I would suspect you are right, most collectors would probably priorities OT over NT.

For modding a MG42 I'm tempted to go for this

Even comes in kit for so you can keep the stock off it when building. Same with the suppressor.

That looks just like the one I got it comes in about 15 pieces. the stock is completely separate and has pretty good detail. I’m in the process of repainting it to give it more depth and bring out the detail but I got mine for less than a dollar shipped from China.

Yeah I was thinking about this. What is SS niche in the 1/6 market?

I would think that everyone would agree that HT makes a higher overall quality product. For me, the SS niche is either characters (or versions of said characters) that HT won't/can't make. However, to be fair, the majority of the time that HT and SS make the same character, the SS version comes with much more. Jedi Luke is a great example. The quality of Headsculpt, tailoring, and materials will likely be higher with the HT version, but for the same money, the Sideshow one comes with more accessories. I've never understood why some fans seem to ignore this fact, and suggest that SS is selling the same thing for the same money.
Personally, for me it depends on the character. Some characters I will use almost all the accessories, or outfits. Other characters, I don't care/need for the accessories, and for me, that helps dictate which version to buy. In my opinion, there are issues with both Luke headsculpts, but I would use pretty much ALL of the accessories the SS one is coming with. Knowing that, makes it a harder decision to make...
